In today's Boing Boing Video episode (which is ad-free!), Jeremy Vest from "How's Your News?" schools our guest correspondent Matty Kirsch in the fine art of man-on-the-street interviews. We featured "How's Your News?" in a previous BBV episode last week. This is a news/comedy program in which the presenters are people with physical and mental disabilities. Some have Down Syndrome, others cerebral palsy, and so on. Jeremy, above, has Williams Syndrome.
"HYN" has been around for some years in various forms, but what's new is that Matt Stone and fellow South Park creator Trey Parker are producing a version of How's Your News as a new MTV series. It airs Sunday nights on MTV.
This Boing Boing video episode is ad-free, and contains (SPOILER ALERT):
* A hobo with a crack spoon
* A hobo playing musical crack spoons
* Handcrafted solicitations for love and/or prostitution
* A man impersonating the President by way of a Shepard Fairey knockoff tshirt
* A dog who wants to be mayor.
Did you miss our earlier preview of How's Your News? I've embedded it below. You're welcome. Here's the blog post: BB Video: How's Your News? Comedy/News by Disabled People, Produced by South Park's Matt + Trey.

"Can we mic his butt"
Yes, we can.
That link on Williams Syndrome is pretty interesting! It's weird to think of a "syndrome" or "disability" that includes friendly/gregarious/good natured as a symptom.
A family friend of ours has Smith-Magenis syndrome, which also has "engaging personality" as a symptom alongside things like sleep disturbance, scoliosis, and a characteristic face shape.
This friend has trouble with numbers (even simple counting) but is well-versed in the status, relationships, etc. of seemingly everyone she comes in contact with. She probably has more active, engaged friendships right this minute than I have had over the whole course of my life.
jeremy was a great interviewer - made the entire clip. in jeremy's words, matty needs to be more charming than he is [or less ADD].

Its one in series of videos by some Rhode Island based folks, some of whom have magnificently "OTHER" brain structures, and no fear of intruding on anyone's comfort zones.
Here is a page with many more from the same folks.

Cant thank enough for giving me the heads up on this show. I deleted MTV off my channel list until this and I was not dissapointed. Nitro circus wasnt bad either, but this show was really entertaining, touching, and just amazing. I did a lot of volunteer work in my life with the disabled, this show is inspiring to anyone with a heart.
Late to the party but I had to chime in.
This made me smile. I remember seeing something on this awhile ago, but thanks for posting and putting it back in my brain. Bookmarked their site.
