I sure wish there was video accompanying the original audio. Surely Christian Bale did overreact, but there is also the possibility that the dude he was cursing out was indeed a frakking amateur.

I like it even less that the original . This kid hasn't done anything wrong but to be born with this inconciderate man as a father. Filming his son being high on anaestethics is one thing. Bloody putting it on the internet is a whole other affair. The boy's ... what? Eleven or something? He's the laughing stock of his school thanks to his no-good father, and this mashup only makes it worse. I must say, I am a bit disappointed in Xeni for posting this. It's below Boing Boing's standards IMO.

Not to mention my two kids (aged 10 and 14) told me they'd put me in state elder care me if I pulled sthg like this. >:}

Has anybody gone to see the original video on YouTube? And clicked on his father's profile? There's another, later video of David, sans drugs, happily talking to the camera. He doesn't look like he's been traumatized by his experience. Maybe Dad even asked David if he could post the video on YouTube.

Arkizzle@34: As a lighting "guy", I resemble that remark. :) I would be just as annoyed as Bale if somebody came around adjusting my stuff while actors are perfoming. Of course, I have a lot less recourse to tantrum-throwing than the star; I have to suck it up and laugh about it after with my fellows over drinks.

As to David, two thoughts:
1) I sure hope his dad asked for his permission to post. That was some good parenting we heard in the original video, and I hope it is borne out.

2) To whoever guessed David is eleven, I think guess again, and lower.

I like Christian Bale - even the road accident he's becoming. Just have to keep on looking or paying attention, now. I'm sure all the folks tut-tutting have had a bad day and blown up at someone. Maybe not on that scale - but most people have been there on some level.

And that kid is fast on his way to becoming a legend... and I don't think anyone is "laughing at him" - well, they are, but I don't think it's mean spirited or vindictive. At least not from my point of view - I'm sure some assholes will look at this and judge the kid and parent. Some kids may even try to mock him, but all in all - internet famous and still in the single digits.

I think perceiving this as causing David to have a hard time, not a better one, reveals something deeper about the person reacting.

God, your kids kinda suck. My little brother (aged 12) laughed and said he wanted to be on the intertubes.

Maybe it's between David and his dad, though, and we all need to lay off and stop judging whether he's the laughingstock of his school or the absolute legend (or likely neither.)

And wow. Mister Bale did indeed fly off the handle. He could be much more creative with his invectives, though.
