While I like the aesthetic of the piece, I'm always bothered by the way in which scientific equipment is portrayed in art and film. Here, as in most cases, some scientific-looking glassware has been tossed together with no thought as to its purpose or function. The flask and tubing are probably a fanciful depiction of a boiling flask and condenser, but the model kit is just nonsense. However, this is nothing compared to the setups I've seen in low-budget sci-fi films. I've often wondered why filmmakers don't bother to ask how all the parts are supposed fit together. I'm sure that if someone called the local university, they could get a grad student to set it all up in exchange for a few donuts from the craft table.

I fully well know that these don't represent real and functioning/functional tools nor did I care. I was using real scientific gear as inspiration only and in a way that held some subtext for me.
Though I noticed you say you liked the aesthetic which would mean you have no problem with depicting physics and 3D space with such unrealistic liberties.
Thank you for staying on the surface.
