Online Hugo nominating ballot is live!
A couple weeks ago, I posted to let you know that nominations for the Hugo awards had just opened -- and promised to re-post once the online nomination form went live. I've just noticed that it's up -- handy if you want to save the hassle of printing out the form and putting it in the mail!
Here's the original post:
The 2008 Hugo award nominations have opened -- if you were a member of the 2008 WorldCon in Denver, or have bought a membership to the 2009 WorldCon in Montreal, you're eligible to nominate. I'll be sending in my nominations this week, and just in case you were wondering, here's the stuff I wrote that's eligible for this year's ballot:
* Best novel: Little Brother, Tor, 2008
* Best related book: Content, Tachyon, 2008
* Best novella: True Names (with Benjamin Rosenbaum), published in Fast Forward, Pyr Books, 2008, edited by Lou Anders
* Best novelette: The Things That Make Me Weak and Strange Get Engineered Away, Tor.com, July 2008

mmph, the free download works fine but I just have to have a dead tree in my hands. The first page is enticing... this better be good Doctorow! (maybe I'll print it out...)
that's True Names BTW

I'd was actually wondering what you're nominating (presumably you won't be nominating your own work).
Apparently the convention attendance is about 4000; it would be interesting to know what percentage of BB readership is actually able to contribute to the nomination...

Hey whiners, its a holiday. Take a break.
Good on you Cory. I loved the book.
The number of times I've seen friends blogs with "Please vote for me in 'Random interweb Award' of some sort" Posts. Or "Please Sponsor me in this Charity thing" I'm not bothered by Cory posting like this at all.
Get over it people.
It's one of the things blogs are for: Mentioning stuff you're up to.

ZorroLivesAgain,
I failed to find a single pleasant comment in your comment history. Feel free to write me and explain why I should reinstate your account.
Cannot see the problem myself, though I am interested in which authors Cory will vote for in the non-competing categories. Or even in the competitive ones.
Though, honestly that's a private affair. Perhaps highlighting entrants Cory has found particularly worthy/interesting?
As for the 'self-promotion', I'm sure someone would object if no mention of the authors own titles was made but a link to the nominations was provided ... 'because they are expecting me to vote for them'.
It is a free vote, an optional one too.
Tx.
P.S. Why the no vowel writing?
P.P.S. I'm embarrassed by how few of the listed works I have actually read this year!
