Cherri Wood's watercolors
I bought this lovely painting by Cherri Wood as a holiday gift for my wife. It's titled "Not to Separate" (watercolor and ink collaged on rice paper). I learned about Wood through Thinkspace Gallery's exhibition in the Gen Art Vanguard New Contemporary Art Fair at Art Basel earlier this month in Miami, Florida. I like Wood's style a great deal and look forward to watching her develop. You can see her work on Flickr and at her LiveJournal.

Very beautiful. i love how the water colors blend on the rice paper. this is also a painting i would purchase. lovely!
yeah, very beautiful. It's stunning
Very pretty - I wonder if the ink splotches were done on purpose? I'm guessing you got a good deal on the painting with the ink mishap.
Kidding - I don't understand art - why does the ink splotches make the painting better? - but I've accepted that Norman Rockwell isn't the only way paintings can be done.
Still, if the splotches were snowflakes or falling leaves... sigh
Tom @3, those black marks lend visual interest to the white space surrounding the figure. I suspect that they also balance the composition, though I can't be certain since I can't see the edges of the piece.
It's not her best work... check out her livejournal for more. She's young yet (I think about 20), so I'm really wondering where she'll take this.
It's a lovely piece, but not enough to convince me to get over the aversion I feel towards the chosen name, "Cherri Wood."
Gag.
