Behold the Devil's armchair. Michael-Anne Rauback has been on a quest for weird chairs this week and this is the third fave find. The 1960s chair above, by Anthony Redmile, is made from malachite, bone, horn, and wood. If I ruled, this would be my throne. Anthony Redmile carved armchair

That is enviable.

If I ruled, this would be my throne and I would dub all BB writers my counts and countesses. (Except for Doctorow, who must first increase his book publishing yield.)

Don't say another Goddamn word. Up until now, I've been polite. If you say anything else - word one - I will kill myself. And when my tainted spirit finds its destination, I will topple the master of that dark place. From my black throne, I will lash together a machine of bone and blood, and fueled by my hatred for you this fear engine will bore a hole between this world and that one. When it begins, you will hear the sound of children screaming - as though from a great distance. A smoking orb of nothing will grow above your bed, and from it will emerge a thousand starving crows. As I slip through the widening maw in my new form, you will catch only a glimpse of my radiance before you are incinerated. Then as tears of bubbling pitch stream down my face, my dark work will begin. I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth.

Now THAT'S a power chair. If I had one I'd take it to work and drag it into every pointless meeting I have to go to and put it at the head of table. I'd also bring an ipod with huge speakers that had one four second track on it: "THUNDER_AND_LIGHTNING.mp3"

Yet another conflation of taurean spirituality and devil worship.

#3--That would make a great Christmas card!

#3 - You reminded me of my love for that particular PA strip, and in turn, I now appreciate the chair more. Bravo!
(PS. LoTR? More like World of the Rings. Online. Craft. =P)

When I see that, I see neck-strain from no headrest. Long term effects!

Theodore Roosevelt?

It's not a goat so I doubt its Alistair Crowley approved.

We don't have such things as neck-strain in the dark places. It's all about image.

The Clift Hotel in San Francisco has some fantastic chairs in their lobby, including a horned, satanic-looking two seater and an oversized thing you have to climb on.
Their website has some images.

Yes @16! The horned sofa in the Clift lobby is incredible. This chair reminds me of that too. In fact, I think, er, "Satan's loveseat" is even superior to the Devil's throne.

....but is it comfortable?

i need to know that the laments of the weeping tortured souls before me are in stark, stark contrast to the wonderful supportive bliss i am feeling in my throne.

Very cool, but it looks way uncomfortable. Would you really want to put your arms on those arm rests?

Best looking chair ever... looks like it's about $7000.

Great Chair..... But,

The arms are upside down AND backwards.

The "real" rear legs were never attached.

Sit in that thing and it'll eat you faster than a polynestene sofa.

Reminds me of my friend/neighbour in Slovenia, a talented artist who makes some asssmackin' chairs, among other stuff. Check these out (don't forget to scroll to the right to see some cool chairs that could be companion pieces to the one above)
