"On the Hour" news parody on iTunes
Jesse Thorn of The Sound of Young America says
On the Hour is the funniest thing I've ever heard on the radio, and I just learned (accidentally) that it's in iTunes. It is the predecessor to "The Day Today" and "Brass Eye," which are two of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV. All three projects were spearheaded by the British satirist Chris Morris, who in my book might be the great comedy genius of our time. It predates The Daily Show, and is (imo) funnier.
Seasons one and two are on sale in iTunes now for $11.99 each:
And there's a podcast of short (~90 second) excerpts as well:
I swear to God this is the funniest, most amazing thing in history.

Before truthiness, there was news-o-rama.
Also notable for the first appearances of the sublimely gifted Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge.
It seems more like The Onion rather than The Daily Show. I've never understood the appeal of fake news when the real news is already beyond belief.

In the same vain and highly recommended (by me) are Armando Iannuci's Charm Offensive, and the currently airing "Listen Against"; check bbc iPlayer. Sadly lacking Chris Morris, but the same taking the mick out of the media and the bbc is present and entirely amusing.
You can also buy it without drm at bleep.com.
The show has a website - http://onthehour.info/ - and a general podcast feed link from there. (The "podcast" link in the article is for iTunes, but not everyone has (or wants) an iPod.
Nice to see Chris Morris getting some props over here. Drop his name into YouTube and get all disturby by his dark and AMAZING series of weirdness "Jam". If you can watch "Sex for Houses" without getting creeped the heck out then... I'm glad I don't know you.
Is the 9/11 tv clip online? - the one where Morris interviews Peter O'Hanraohanrahan who is pretending to be at a meeting in the WTC. It's one of those rare examples where you laugh a lot, then stop, because you realise what you are laughing at, and then you laugh again because if it's funny you should laugh...
And yes, although I have huge respect for Chris Morris, I think that Armando Iannucci may be the real genius - track down "Time Trumpet".
On the subject of Armando Iannucci and genius, don't forget The Thick of It!

It also incidentally gave birth to the career of Steve Coogan, and gave first voice to his Alan Partridge character.

If you are at all interested in Comedy, Morris is a must. Easily the most influential and gifted satirist of the last twenty years.
Chris Morris? Nathan Barley.

@atadenglish Nathan Barley was Charley Brookers baby, it's impossible to know how much influence Morris had on the show. His own work speaks for itself.
