Photos of every corner in Manhattan
Designer Richard Howe worked for two years to photograph all 11,000+ street corners in Manhattan:
The Manhattan Street Corners (via Kottke)
The Manhattan Street Corners is my working title for a project to produce a comprehensive photographic portrait of everyday life at street level in daytime Manhattan. Between March and November, 2006, I systematically photographed each and every one of the island’s roughly 11,000 street corners (the exact number is a matter of definition and, in some ambiguous instances, even a matter of judgment).

Neat! That means there's a shot of Hook & Ladder #8 in there.
Wow! Very comprehensive. I've been enjoying this photo blog about the cornerstones of Manhattan - http://cornerstones.tumblr.com/
Someone else did this. I think it was, ummm, Google Street View.
The site is down at the moment for exceeding bandwidth. But I was able to see it before that happened. I love obsessive individual projects like this. It has much better quality photos than Google, JFLEX. Though Google has a much better navigation scheme for getting to a specific corner. :)
New York Songlines is another obsessive individual project. Jim Naureckas has covered much of Manhattan below 59th Street, giving history for individual addresses along the way. It is the first place I go when researching specific Manhattan locations for my blog. He has recently started adding photos from Flickr to the mix.

Ah Stone street! I spent many an afternoon passing through there on my way to Rosario's. Best Italian food in lower Manhattan!
I love New York.
I did the same thing with West Branch, Iowa.
It didn't get much attention.
What #3 said. :)
