True Blood Featurette (video)

My friend Clayton Cubitt describes this spectacular little featurette by Digital Kitchen in four words: "Southern gothic art boner." Link to QuickTime file (contains blurry, fleeting art-nudity). UPDATE: sorry, looks like that direct "Link to QuickTime file" won't work as a clickthrough from BoingBoing, but if you copy and paste the url into your browser, it does.
Found on the excellent artofthetitle.com, in a post linking the opening sequence for Alan Ball's killer (heh) new HBO series with the cultural roots of the film Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus.

seriously dig these titles, so possessed
top marks
song's catchy too
damn that gave me goosebumps. it's like house of 1000 corpses, mississippi burning and the discovery channel hand a 3some. provocative and wonderful.
I've been waiting pretty much all day for a stripper/churchgoer convulsion montage.
Here's a short audiovisual portrait of religion in the South that was in the local paper a bit ago with a similar vibe---

Who sings that song? Is that Mars Volta?
The theme song is performed by Jace Everett.
I'm still trying to figure out the strumming pattern used for the rhythm guitar ^^
"Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus" was brilliant. Am I the only one who saw it?

@ #5 Anonymous:
The song for the opening of True Blood is in fact Jace Everett, the song is Bad Things, but the song in this featurette is a different one. Anybody to shed some light on it?
Must. Find. Music.
As #5 said, the song for the actual title sequence and the song for the featurette are totally different.
Kinda sounds like Perry Farrell?
Only Dexter has a better opening, I think.
The song is Radtimesxpress by RTX.
Special thanks to Shazam.
I love the song even though it is a blatant attempt to sound like Chris Isaak.
Baby did a bad bad thing.
That is definitely one of the best show openers ever. Mesmerizing. What are those kids eating when it looks like they have blood all over their faces?
Unfortunately, the opening is the best part of the show.
I've been a long time fan of Digital Kitchen. They also did those great tiles for Dexter, and Alan Ball's other great show, Six Feet Under, plus a slew of others. They are great storytellers.
Superbly talented people there. Recently learned a director there now works for Kyle Cooper's new shop, Prologue. This is Talent with a capital T.
TFCON: Thank you!
