"more mainstream" doesn't mean it won't still be mocked. WoW apparently has over 11 million subscribed players, who I'd assume could totally be classified as wieners. Rush Limbaugh has over 10 million daily listeners, who I'd assume could totally be classified as blowhards.
I played 'Sorry!' a lot with my mother. Nothing quite so satisfying as being in the last stretch, losing completely, and pulling out a series of 'Sorry!'s to win the game.
I blame that board game for turning the word "sorry" into a taunt. (Also, in my old school, the word doubled as a "TIMEOUT!" -- as in when someone punches you in the back of the head then runs away shouting their apologies loud enough for the teacher to hear -- as well as a threat.)
The DiabloII one is so accurate. And encapsulates what's so great about the game. Sometimes, you just want to click on things and make them die. (Who else can't wait for DiabloIII?)
But yeah, WoW, pretty mainstream now. And there really are *some* actual women on there (like me).
We at the Game-Nerd Awareness Group are appalled that this kind of humour is still considered 'OK'
Game-nerds, or 'people who play games' as we like to call them, are often able to live full and meaningful lives, including having active social lives with others in their clan, and having online chat relationships with members of the opposite sex
These people are not escaping reality but actively participating in a wonderful experiment of the imagination.
Respect them as you would any other minority group that you are contemptuous of, but are socially and politically prevented from making fun of.
Sorry! was my favorite game as a kid, I must have played it hundreds of times with my friends...It's a kind of an international game, I've met it more commonly named as "Don't be angry, little man".
This was honestly not that amusing. Some of it actually felt insulting. "Definite Virgins VII"? That's a film, not a game. If you're going to make fun of a game, make sure it is one. I don't even see how that's an insult. It's like a jock going into a theater showing the movie and starts calling everyone virgins.
And since when is being called a virgin an insult?
Then the GTA joke is even worse. It reinforces the negative stereotype about the series, while looking like some lame attempt by Jack Thompson to salvage his image.
Like the rest of you, the only one I thought was remotely funny was the Myst one. And that was still immature and cringe inducing.
Monopoly, when played properly, should end in tears.
Ah, C'mon! Surely WoW's more mainstream than this by now? Mile long queues say it's about as socially acceptable as anything else these days...
Myst and Diablo, haha.
'Monopoly, when played properly, should end in tears.'
'Monotony' surely?

Many a family get-together has been ruined by the ill-advised choice of 'Risk' for the evening's entertainment.
Wow with the new expansion, Bath for the B@tch Queen! 1337 and lifeless!
Risk?
It would be interesting to keep the names and change the graphics. Bill Gates for Monopoly, an empty condom dispenser for Risk...
....an empty cheetos bag for WoW.

Yeah, it's definitely better titled 'F@ck you!"
This classic sketch shows the "Sorry!" dynamic in action, best board game on television ever imho:

Poker = Liar?
Chess = Brainy?
Would rather have seen more board games than video games. "Sorry" was, disappointingly, the only one.
sorry -- making fun of warcraft players is SO 2005. the myst one made me laugh, though.

I LOL'd (literally) at the Myst one.
Somehow I prefer the term "World of Wienercraft" to my wife's version, "World of Wankercraft".
I absolutely LOVE Diablo II actually. The click interface is convenient. :)
Honestly... I didn't find these as amusing as I expected. College Humor seems to be slipping a bit, lately.
CoD4 should've made more fun of how getting all of the -unlocks- is the real work...
And, really. Myst wasn't that hard. Honest.
By far the easiest game in the trilogy.
Wow, didn't even bother to download Pricedown for the GTA joke? As lazy as most of these jokes were, that's just pathetic.
jtegnell @14 Would rather have seen more board games than video games. "Sorry" was, disappointingly, the only one.
Likewise. I'm not sure what it says about me that I didn't recognize most of the video games. I didn't think I was THAT old....
World of Mancaves
Was Sorry! originally played with dice? I remember playing it with a set of cards that came with it.
Chess = Hut One Hut Two Hut Three Hut Old Dirty Bastard Live And Uncut
Actually, ff7 has a fairly large female fanbase.
Well... sephiroth does.
"World of Mancaves"
...Actually, World of Whiners would have been more apropos, as World of Warcrack has already been used.
@27: who are also virgins.

Not to mention Cloud or Zack. Or Aeris. Or the Turks. Even optional character Vincent. I'm partial to Tifa myself.
Some of these are pretty funny but I'm underwhelmed by game-nerds-are-unable-to-relate-to-females humor. Lol no girlz on tha Playstation. Whatever.
Anyone notice "wieners" was misspelt?
Uncle Max @5:
I believe the usual term is "dittoheads."SphericalTime @13: Poker = "Howdy, Sucker!"
From CollegeHumor I would've expected at least one gay version:
Where in the World is Carmen Miranda?
@21 Actually, its more like a quintilogy (is that right?) Six in all if you count Uru.

As with many Photoshop memes, SA has done this before already, and in volume:

Really Mark, you missed it with this one.
nnguyen,
Your comment has done nothing but reinforce the stereotypes that you're protesting.
Another person jumping on the "not as funny as I expected" bandwagon. Sorry was the only funny one, and it's hardly an original joke at that.
Nnguyen: yes, they used the FF7 Advent Children image to poke fun... But they were obviously referring to FF7 the game.
Also, the title of the article is "These 10 Games..." Not "The".
