Some art—no matter who makes it or talks about it or what's said about it, or where it shows up, or what context it's in, or how iconoclastic it or its creator is ,or how high it reaches into the stratosphere of oddness, or so-called "coolness,"—is worth no more than a passing glimpse.
This is one of them.
Even people whose collected output I love manage to produce some clunkers.
It is exactly why I refuse to make eye contact with women who know they are hawt ("I think you are really fit, you're fit, but my gosh, don't you just know it" --The Streets), and men in Italian sportscars or American musclecars ("with large fuzzy dice hanging like testicles from rear view mirrors" -- Cake).
They want you to focus on their outsides. The like the attention, but want to keep control of what you see of them by distracting you with the flash - keeping your attention plugged into something they can control.
I see it as being about not liking who you are without accessories / armor.
When I saw the headline, I assumed it had something to do with the recent scene in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" where Cameron was fighting the other female Terminator and stuffed the other Terminator's shoe heel into her eyeball...
Yeah, I watch Terminator. Sue me - it's Summer Glau!

A shame it is no new idea. G'kar
had one. In Ender's Game, as well. And ere
it's built, and on, and we can spy from far

No way to hide a battery, and wires
won't do. No robots, we. Our guts, our chains
we hide beneath our skins: we all are liars.
It's art that tells the truth, and not our brains.
And where to hold the ones and ohs that spew?
A thumb drive, or an EyePod? or her shoe?
But I'm pretty sure it is supposed to represent a cyborg getting her inputs on American culture to better take over the world, surrerptitiously, through couture.
And he spoke of pastures green
I was never told why
Each journey lasts an age
And my throat feels dry
It must be the lesson
Hidden deep inside
It must be the lesson
So roll the tide
So I began the crossing
My throat burned dry
Searching for Satori
The kick in the eye
I am the end of reproduction
Given no direction
Every care is taken
In my rejection
Kick in the eye (x4)
Every care is taken
With my rejection
And my abduction
To my addiction
Every care is taken
With my protection
And my abduction
From my addiction
You might have to see the whole story to give context.. the other images which accommodate that image explain the premise. The green models (hello, they are aliens ) are studying earth objects/collecting data on artifacts (old computers, shoes, etc)- story title was ' Earthly Delights'- Oh, and I believe thats a male alien, not a female--its actually a clever commentary by the photog-addressing the issues which a few people just sl-ogged/ slop-blogged about in passing. An alien trying to download an artifact of american consumerism.. snicker
It's a warning. "Do not kick people in the face when you have heals full of data."

@midknyte - that is THE best ever comment - very clever
shoes and apparel are messages the wearer sends. These messages are received by observers through the data intake port of the eye.
How about, "I can see your soul."?

I think it is making a statement about online shoe fetishists and the inablility to truly see the shoe but connect with it.
It's a stalker threat. "I see everywhere you go"
