Absolutely AWESOME!
Now, if he'll just go out a sink a few of those dastardly warships (theirs, not ours)......
Scale? So it has a tiny little organ for Captain Nemo to tickle the ivories on?
More importantly, has Takuan tried to eat it yet?
hardly, the original was barely a meal.
D'you think, if we all chipped in, we could commission a pedal-car version for Poesy?

No Zepplin. No nuclear powered Nautilus either. Yet another example of Gates not knowing what to do with 50 billion dollars.
Is that thing "street legal"?
I started following links from his page about two hours ago. Be warned. Once you get past the addictive technoporn of this achievement, you discover that he has documented the current, thriving scene of small sub builders in enthusiastic, addictive detail.
Oh Christ, no. Why did you tell me that? I can't look at submarines all night! I have to go to sleep!
Mr. Darwin will see you now. I think he has something for you.
This is way old, I saw it at least 2 years ago. Surprised Boingboing didn't pick it up, but he launched the mini sub at the Benicia Marina in the early 90s.
Bionic Dolphin V. Nautilus!
Yeah, the bionic dolphins are in a class by themselves. But the subs that the Danish guys are building are serious blue-water vessels. You could cruise those across oceans.
Read his web site. He built the Nautilus sub back when other people were diving in propane tanks. It was way ahead of its time. Since then he's built working diving suits. This month he restored a real helmet from the Disney movie and dived it in the ocean. Not to mention the fact that his website is like the Encyclopedia Vulcanica. I have to say it. He's taken movie fan steampunk to a new dimension. Very inspiring!
