Video: The Cowsills on "The Ed Sullivan Show"

The talented Cowsills really show their stuff on the Ed Sullivan Show. From Bedazzled:

"The Rain, the Park & Other Things" & Medley ("Monday, Monday,", "Sweet Taking Guy," "Lonesome Me," "Please Mr. Postman" & "Reach Out"). I love how they don't really get the vocal mics going till halfway through the first song. This is The Cowsills people! Turn on a freaking mic or two.

I used to love the Cowsills when I was a kid. My mom and dad used to have an 8-track we used to play...or maybe it was an actual record.

Anyway, blast from the past.

Great video. I remember Bill Cowsill's band from Vancouver in the early 90s, the Blue Shadows. Rumor at the time was that he had finally cleaned up his act, hence the new (and very good) band. In fact he was still having problems and though he supposedly cleaned up for good in the early 2000s, he died in 2006 in Calgary. He was a much more serious musician than he gets credit for.

We (being Suffolk Cooperative Library System, based in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York) send out "The Best of the Cowsills" on loan to libraries in the rest of the country a LOT. I actually just checked it back in last week!

If your library inter-library loans audiovisual items, we'd be happy to loan it to you, too! :D

BTW, Susan Cowsill was -9 years old- when 'Hair' went to #2 in 1969. That makes her the youngest singer with a top-10 record.

(Michael? Nope: 11 when 'I Want You Back' was released.)
