Bailoutsleuth.com

Mark Cuban blogs:

Transparency is key to the success of the Bailout and related loans and investments the government makes with our tax dollars. Without complete transparency, we will get from our government what we always get when it comes to finances, confusion. To do my part, I’ve worked with the folks at Sharesleuth.com to create Bailoutsleuth.com

Its job is simple, keep an eye on our taxpayer dollars and call Bullshit when necessary.

if you take a trip over to Bailoutsleuth you can see that its already time to call BS. In the first contract handed out, in this case to Bank of NY Mellon Corp, the compensation section is blacked out.

Sad. So very sad, that we couldnt make it a week without being afraid of the very taxpayers who are footing the tab for all of this.

Bailoutsleuth will try to publish every day in keeping up with how our taxdollars are spent and the people and companies that are impacted by this program. We are still a work in progress and look forward to your comments , feedback and tips.

Announcing BailoutSleuth.com (Blog Maverick), and here is BailoutSleuth.com.

Great site, keep their feet to the fire!

Maybe not quite the quote for the job, but I just keep recalling my past history classes: "No taxation without representation"

Wouldn't that also cover knowing how our tax dollars are being spent?

Wait a minute, Capital One??? "The fourth largest customer of the United States Postal Service" Capital One? The biggest predatory lender of them all? I might be blowing this out of proportion, but this is EXACTLY the kind of lender that I think should just be liquidated. If they're in trouble, its for a good reason. We don't need taxpayer money going to them so they can keep paying the USPS to send more junk mail credit card offers. Might as well throw our tax money into a black hole. I fail to see how this helps the economy.

@Toxonix

A friend said to me, "The bailout plan is like trying to fix the problem of a leaking bucket by putting more water in it." Thought you might like that.

I understand, "We, the people" are the only ones who are going to keep the government in check. What I don't understand is how are these sleuth sites helping? It is important that people are informed about the problem, but I'm already informed, how do I help now?

Q: Wouldn't that also cover knowing how our tax dollars are being spent?

A: Might as well throw our tax money into a black hole.

That pretty much sums it up right there. They're not even throwing good money after bad any more. They're throwing bad money after worse.

It doesn't surprise me. It's still a GOP admin. They always want to end government regulation "to increase economic growth." In fact, that was one of the reasons McCAIN used about 10 years ago for supporting banking deregulation. We all know now that Wall Street and the financial sector ,without oversight decided profit was the onlt thing to consider, since they now were not bound to rules or overseers.I'm really upset that Bank New York Mellon recently lost tapes which compromised my, and thousands of others identity and financial records. They have been less than helpful in trying to solve the situation. The number they supply to call, is any agency they hired, just to enroll you in credit monitoring.I, finally reached a human at Bank New York Mellon, but he did not know full amount of personal information on records or even the period of time the records covered. Big help! Also, when Mellon was still a regular bank, they were contracted to process Tax refunds. Whoever they hired could not keep up, so shredded the returns . Later as people complained that they hadn't received refunds. They had to prove they had even filed timely. I don't really know if they ever got their refunds. Whenever these big companies or govt. screw up, it becomes your responsibility to prove it and when possible, correct it . I know now that Bank New York Mellon is to hold and keep records of the billion they and other banks received in the bailout. So expect lots of info blacked out and even more never reported. It's a disgrace. As taxpayers we were told it was urgent that the bailout be passed, now we will be stuck with the debt and the banks will make sure they show profits aand get bonuses.

The bailout is the last great money-transfer for the Bush administration's friends. It also serves to ensure there's not enough in the coffers to finance President Obama's initiatives.

once again this administration proves that we are to be transparent to them, and not the other way around.

Change.
