the grouch is awesome.
if you like this search out Living Ledgends. He has a song he does with them I think its called "you ain't artsyier then me" or just "artsy". its great
> "intelligent hip-hop"
??
as opposed to "dumb hip-hop" by those cruddy ghetto guys?
Batu B, you're trolling, cut it out before i ban your ass. The term (not my invention) does not refer to white artists. It refers to a genre of hip-hop in which artists focus on "positive" or social advocacy themes, sometimes about politics, drug use, community empowerment, and so on, instead of some of the themes common in mainstream commercial hip-hop (think: cash, ammo, various ways to get high, bitches, whatever). Some of the acts often referred to as "intelligent hiphop" include Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, Talib Kweli, K-Os...
And for the record, I am not of the opinion that ammo, cash, or bitches are unworthy topics in hip-hop, or any other form of art. I'm not taking a judgment position here, just correcting your apparent misunderstanding of a term.
Just jumping in to say that edIT's remix of 'Artsy' by The Grouch is incomprehensibly good and people should check it out.
The video is also a pretty excellent send-up of recent ad campaigns and other visual media; HP's neck-down celeb ads, Eminem's iPod ad (or the Lugz original, if you prefer), and Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy'.

man i used to listen to the grouch since dont talk to me and nothing changes. let hope this shit changes.. good video..
I'm a huge hiphop fan (Living Legends, Def-Jux, Quannum, Antion et-cetera) but everything about this song was weak. But I guess it did have a positive message...
This theme of Mom and Pop stores against giant corporations, can also be seen in the recording industry, with major labels vs. indie labels. Which I am sure that the Grouch knows a whole lot about.
What is it about discussions of hiphop that brings out the attitude?
Walmart has their hands in all cookie jars, while major labels just like one recipe. So its a bigger deal when Walmart gets hungry.
what? i havent met my attitude quota? WEST COAST BIATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = )
I prefer The GREATEST Depression!
