"Dangerous Minds" talkshow pilot

So, as promised earlier in the week, here's the debut of "Dangerous Minds" a new talkshow pilot where I interview my friend Johnny Knoxville. (Check out his new Jackassworld website). We're at Coop's studio and there are some of his amazing paintings on the walls behind us.
The idea with Dangerous Minds is to create a multi-platform talkshow that would please a cross section of the folks who enjoy things like the TED Conference speeches, The Charlie Rose Show, Art Bell/George Noory's conspiracy theory radio program and of course, Boing Boing. There seems to be a lot of overlap, at least that's my perception, and now I'm trying to find a corporate sponsor. In any case, the idea is to have wide-ranging conversations with smart, fun and interesting people in the arts, science, politics and to mix it up with some weirder guests, too. Brian Eno, the Mighty Boosh, Nick Cave, Tilda Swinton, Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, David Lynch, Malcolm Gladwell, Jeff Koons, etc. that's that kind of offbeat guest list I'm dreaming of. I hope you'll enjoy the pilot episode.
Most of the past interviews I've seen with Johnny Knoxville have taken place in front of a studio audience so they weren't very intimate. This is the first time I've heard him discuss topics like the hazardous comedic craft that goes into creating Jackass as well as his own mortality, what his daughter thinks about her father's line of work and the experience of becoming famous almost overnight. It's a thoughtful side of him that you probably haven't seen before, either.
I should add here that he is exactly the same in real life as he is when you see him on TV. I mean exactly exactly the same. No pretenses, nothing, that's who he is 24/7. A 5000 watt light bulb hambone who spends his days at the office hard at work coming up with hilariously funny shit for your viewing pleasure. I see Jackass as an artistic hybrid of Fight Club, Tom and Jerry cartoons and Buster Keaton's elaborate slapstick. What may seem like merely chugging milk until you puke, strapping yourself to a gigantic bottle rocket or provoking an angry bull to charge you for laughs is actually hard work. Why it's a uniquely American art form!
Knoxville does something really funny about halfway in. Really funny and really unsanitary. You might say it's "pee your pants" funny (!) Look for Coop's cameo.

All it does is play quicktime videos - no worries about the huge, pervasive, annoying crap that is the real Quicktime.
Dangerous Minds sounds great - I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
If Johnny Knoxville is like that all the time I guess you have to be on edge and prepared for anything. I imagine you take a change of clothes and antibacterial wipes whenever you're around him. I love entertainers like Knoxville that, even though they are huge stars, they still act like a regular guy when off the set - though I'm not sure "regular guy" and "Johnny Knoxville" should be used in the same sentence.
Including the UI widgets in an image can be really confusing; making people think you actually embedded the video and that those are real clickable widgets.
Yeah, too bad we don't have a protocol to scale availability with demand... oh wait: BitTorrent, Dijjer, Coral cache... I'll take QuickTime over the crash-happy and severely UI lagged Flash Video (e.g. YouTube) any day!How is anyone getting this as a Quicktime-compatible format anyway, instead of this Veoh player crap? Anyone care to link directly to the URL for the .mp4 ?
Why don't people just put videos up on blip.tv or revver or the Internet Archive instead?
Apparently it's a flsh video, but even though I use the k-lite codec pack it wouldn't play until I upgraded quicktime alternative to it's latest version. k-lite has pretty much every codec imaginable, so this must be something new, or it was a fluke and the site was too busy to load at the time.

I noticed something while watching that: Johnny Knoxville bears a passing resemblance to Dick York.
Johnny Knoxville did the paintings in back? Those are awesome. They make an excellent background for an interview show. I had no trouble viewing it and I would like to see whatever future episodes you make.
I'm kinda surprised that there have been 20+ replies to this post and nobody has compared him to Max Hardcore and called for banning his work. It's dangerous, violent, disgusting, degrading, humiliating, and features plenty of clearly intoxicated performers.
Personally, I'm not sure if Knoxville is an idiot or a genius. I think I would incline more toward genius if it weren't for the fact that he does a lot of the more dangerous stunts himself. One of these days, he or one of his buddies is going to get killed doing one of these stunts.
Until then, I'll be laughing uproariously at his ridiculous hijinx.

@22 WOLFIESMA: No, those are Coop's paintings, as they are filming the interview in Coop's studio. He's a friend of the BoingBoing crew and is oft-mentioned in posts.
Better yet, has anyone already written software that will automatically proxy an IP address within the network of other proxy operators? e.g. By running this proxy, it could auto-negotiate, so that I'd be providing an IP address for people who want to use HULU, but I'd get a proxied IP address to watch the BBC iPlayer?
