Kristin Baker's speedway racing-inspired paintings
Kristin Baker is a hypertalented New York City-based artist who paints incredibly dynamic, energized abstractions influenced by her passion for Grand Prix auto racing. She uses acrylic to paint on mylar and PVC. If someone decides to make an animation of JG Ballard's novel Crash, I nominate Baker to be the art director. Seen above, Big Bang Vroom (acrylic on PVC, 243.8 cm x 304.8 cm). Kristin Baker (Thanks, Kelly Sparks!)

Go Speed Racer, go!
It is Hockneyesque.
it looks like an electric RC car more than a real race car...
It's Francis Bacon at the track.
It's about time someone showed me some recent art that moves me. Even in digital form I feel this.
I find this work insular and juvenile. It feels like something done by someone who has never stepped out of her comfort zone. Like maybe she has been given everything?
It actually (even if it's "exploding") seems afraid and stiff to me. Just my op..
I find this last comment very insular and only somewhat juvenile. It reads like something written by someone who took a community college art class and was told to step out of their comfort zone. Probably someone who was never given anything.
It definitely (even it it's "trying") seems limp and whiny to me. Probably not just my operation... operanda... optical illusion... Ocean Pacific T-Shirt.
