Pig traps woman in home
Caroline Hayes, 64, claims that a giant, threatening pig is preventing her from leaving her house. The woman, a resident of Uki, New South Wales, Australia, had fed the 176 pound wild pig, named Bruce. But it's become very aggressive and when she opened the door to her home, "the pig pushed her back inside." It will eventually be taken to a piggery, but they have to nab it first. From BBC News:
Rangers from Murwillumbah Council tried to catch the large animal but the cage was too small...Pig takes woman hostage (BBC News, thanks Tessa Finlev!)
Animal ranger Len Hing, who visited the scene, explained that Bruce's large size makes him difficult to control when hungry.

176 pounds is not very big for a pig.
Quick! Somebody submit this story on the Bacon Subreddit!
What? No pictures!?
Get thee to a piggery!
In Soviet Russia, bacon eats YOU!
You know what this is going to lead to, right?
Piggery jokery.
@nores
Damn! You beat me to it!
Is a piggery like a pecary?
Just shoot the thing and be done with it. It's obviously aggressive towards humans and dangerous. What they're doing is just asinine.
What they're doing is just asinine.
porcine, really.
@8 - aggressive towards humans because she was stupid enough to feed it.
Just throwing this out there, but 176 pounds doesn't strike me as particularly large for a pig.
@5 - I just spit sprite all over my desk. I'll be sending you the cleaning bill.
OMG. Australia! Pigs! Bruce!
I hardly know where to start.
welcome pig overlords, yada yada yada
Was it a male chauvinist pig?
Caroline says she is still better off than her married friends, however, because she only has to "have sex with her pig when she really feels like it."
You don't understand. The pig is just trying to protect her from something else lurking outside.
great, now i can't get that music from the benny hill show outta my head.
I believe Bruce is actually the Mother-In-Law.
Did she have to come live with us?
Pigs have been used as garbage cleanup in days gone past, the problem was when there wasn't enough garbage they had a tendency to go after small children. Why do we assume pigs are these lovey dovey type creatures? Yeah some can be tamed to be nice lovable creatures but honestly thats not all that common.
my old roomate had a pot-belly pig who liked to hump her bowling ball. he would get it into a corner, line up the thumb hole, and go to town! hours of fun.
I can't believe she didn't have any lipstick to defend herself with.
**POOF!** Instant VP Candidate.
How do they know it weighs 176 pounds? Not 173 or 181? Did they get the pig onto a scale? If so, why didn't they capture it then?
Razorback!
Wow @ZINJANTHROPUS that sounds amazing! I was just sat here thinking of what to say involving Cujo or Lake Placid, but there you go with an entire movie :)
Awesome
In America we throw 700 billion dollars at the pig to make it go away.

Misery with a Pig!
Spikeles: I'm...shocked at how much coverage this story has recieved...even by from the generally top-notch national/public broadcaster (the ABC).
Perhaps it's all the doom and gloom financial news, but really... when this is the second story in every evening news bulliten one really has to wonder.
Someguy - 176 pounds is 80 kilos, which sounds slightly less ridiculous :P.
THINKKANDDRIVE@23: Made me chuckle.
RED LEATHERMAN@27: Made me laugh out loud.
Wow. Life imitates a Monty Python sketch. Is everything and everyone down in Australia named Bruce?
Crikey!
80kgs. I'm fatter than that pig.
