OMG! I used to have one of these on my desk at work. It had been left there by a former employee. The boombox itself worked okay, but there was a short in the keyboard cable and it didn't work most of the time. :(

I guess I should have saved it for eBay. I tossed it out probably five years ago.

This is almost identical to the one I begged my mother for for xmas that year (1985) - I think the keyboard on the one I wanted was on top of the boombox.

That was the moment I learned that we were poor.

I did end up getting a (much cheaper) boombox for xmas that year.

We moved a couple of months later and I remember the moving guys loaded everything except my boom box and when I pointed it out, the guy carried it with him in the front of the truck and said everything would be fine.

On unpacking day at our new place, I was shocked to find that my boombox was nowhere to be found.

THAT was the day I learned that we were, erm, gullible :)
