I have to say, I rather love this keyboard! I think I'd have to go with the white on black over the pink on white though... just works better for me.

Awe-SOME! Must have one. Soon. My hands are falling off from all the trembling. And somebody needs to make a Katamari Damacy trackball already. Seriously. I'm losing it.

I have one of those flexible keyboards (though not one with these kinds of graphics.)

If it's like the one I have, you won't be using it for any kind of long-form typing. It's ok for a few words, but the responsiveness of the keys and just the all-around rubbery feel of this keyboard will have you running back to your regular keyboard, fast! (Note: I'm not one of those keyboard purists who needs that satisfying click in every key -- my laptop's keyboard works well enough for me...)

One use for these keyboard, if you can find them for a low enough price, is as a backup that you can carry around in your toolbox whenever a friend or family member asks you for in-person tech support.

It's also useful for typing messages on your XBox 360, if you don't have another USB keyboard available.

I think you mean Union Flag </pedant>

I've seen them used for DJ set-ups also, due to frequent drink spillage.

@4 ... no our flag is definitely known as the Union Jack over here

MONSTRINHO

Actually it's not called the Union Jack at all.

It is the Union Flag or the Flag of Union.

It is a JACK only when flown on a Ship.

Ha, now howzat for pedantry?

There us some dispute as to whether the "Jack" in Union Jack refers to the "jack" of a ship. So the moniker "Union Jack" would be entirely correct.

Wikipedia:

Whether to use "Union Flag" or "Union Jack" is a matter of debate. One view is that "Union Jack" should be used only for the flag when it is flown as a jack (a small flag flown at the bow of a ship),[1] but it is not universally accepted that the "Jack" of "Union Jack" is a reference to such a jack flag and is only an educated guess.[2]

The Flag Institute, the vexillological organisation for the United Kingdom, stated that the term Union Flag is a "relatively recent idea". It also noted that "From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag".[3]Nevertheless, the term "Union Flag" is used in King James's proclamations of 1606 and 1634, and in King George III's proclamation of 1 January 1801 concerning the arms and flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Oh, not the jack/flag one again... Consider 'jack' its affectionate nickname, and we're all fine.

I'm a little disappointed that it's not available in green-on-black; somehow that seems more appropriate.

#4,#6,#7,#8: Even the monarchy seems happy to use the terms interchangeably.

Compare also the Google searches for "Union Jack" and "Union Flag" through site:gov.uk. (9,620 vs 6,940).

Yes, the term "Union Jack" seems to have been incorrect once upon a time, but today it's common parlance.

That photo looked awesome as it scrolled up my screen using the scroll wheel. It looked like the invaders were animating.

I would say that most educated people would call it the union flag and it's only the flag-waving skinheads that embarrass the UK that refer to it as the union jack.
Whether commonplace or not, the fact that it is in fact incorrect to refer to it as the union jack (unless of course you are at sea), simply advertises ignorance, such as those who refer to the plural of lego as "legos" or the Euro as "Euros".

@13 - Pimp, you created an account just to comment on THAT? Wow.

I've read the discussions about the Union Flag and "Legos", but just what is the plural of "Euro"? And who says so?

Take a look at this

Really? The plural of "Lego" isn't "Legos"?

Anyway, I'd totally order the Union Jack - or Flag, whatever - if it weren't $45 CAD. I'll wait until it shows up on DealExtreme.

This is what I've heard after many years around boats. A Union Jack is a Union Flag flown on the jack staff, hence Union Jack. The jack staff is on the bow. The jack flag is run up at the dock. The US Navy Union Jack is the canton of the American Flag. The canton is the blue protion of the flag containing the stars, which are the union.

The point that most people miss is that the flag in question was originally created to be flown on a ship. "Britannia rules the seas" and all that.

It was named the "Union Jack", and continued to be so named even after its use on land was approved by the monarchy.

(Similarly, the (current and historical) national flags of many former British possessions are variations on the Red Ensign, also originally used only by various navies.)

Many wish to change (or update, if you will) the Union Jack's name to more accurately represent its modern use. However, the use of term "Union Flag" is problematic, as it may suggest the flag of the European Union, among many others.

Plus, those keyboards are crap.

Kat @1, I also prefer white-on-black. But even better would be colored-on-black, using the same colors as the version of Space Invaders that had the colored stripes across the screen.

Takeshi @2, so just take an ordinary trackball and glue a lot of crap to it! Actually, you could probably make one by finding pictures of the object images from the game, cutting them out, gluing them to the ball, and then shellacking the whole thing when you were done. You'd need to be careful about smoothing it out, and not making the paper-and-shellack layer too thick, but it ought to be possible.

Look, people, I came to this thread for some good, old-fashioned "this was on BBG already" pedantry, not this new-fangled "jack vs. flag" stuff. If y'all can't get it right, I'm gonna have to go back to Fark, or, god forbid, YouTube.

Dang, I would have bought one of these, but it's only available in a British QWERTY layout. :(

Well I wouldn't set any bench mark s for anything using what the Manorchy in the UK or Europe are happy to do.

I mean... look at the gaggle of inbred mostrosities...!!

They may say Union Jack but they also thin Charles the 2nd of spain was a fine figure of a man.

That's the NICE portrait.

In fact he couldn't hold his mouth shut and his tongue lolled down his face.

Also fully incontinent.
