On top of being one of the greatest Japanese novelists of all time, Haruki Murakami also has a knack for scoring awesome international edition book covers. A new collection of essays titled
A Wild Haruki Chase includes a colorful montage of Murakami covers from around the world. Well-known American art directors like John Gall and Chip Kidd are responsible for many of the US versions, but some other obviously super-talented international cover artists have decorated his titles, too. Who is John Gall?
nice - I love Murakami, hate the covers generally, except for the original Japanese A Wild Sheep Chase cover which I have a printout of on my wall, but I see there's other nice ones too which I haven't seen before.
EDGORE - have you heard of Google? It's a very useful search tool that provides interesting tidbits of information like this

I found that in about 7 seconds. Give it a try.
Edgore was making a joke. Obviously someone isn't familiar with "Atlas Shrugged." I envy you.
Oh, snap!
That one's on me! Nice one "anonymous" - never before have I been so happy to have missed a joke.
I've read several of Haruki Murakami's novels extracts in The New Yorker "Fiction" section which prompted reading the full books. Great writer / Great Magazine.
he's so fantastic! i really love the us hardcover for after dark, the paperback...doesn't do it for me at all.
Haruki is my most favorite writer. I believe I've read all his novels that had been translated into English. But sadly, nobody bother to translate his earlier works like Hear the wind sing, Spider monkey at night etc....
I was casting about Borders earlier this year for something to read and my eye happened upon a lovely-looking book with a black cat and a fish on the cover. It was Kafka on the Shore. I had never heard of Murakami before. I took it home and devoured it in about two sittings. One of the best books I've ever read and one of the few that's ever made me cry.
Anyone have a link to the international covers for Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World?
Also, a book about book covers? Presumably conceived by Kramerica Industries.
there is much more complete gallery here: http://www.geocities.jp/yoshio_osakabe/Haruki/Novels-E.html
