Australian Broadcasting Corporation launches Creative Commons community media site

Gary sez, "Pool is a Creative Commons licensed social media project being developed by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It's a place to share your creative work with the Pool community and ABC producers - upload music, photos, videos, documentaries, interviews, animations and more. It's a collaborative space where audiences become makers." Pool (Thanks, Gary!)

The CBC tried an experiment like this a few years back. I forget the name, but there was a late-night show that would play videos and documentaries, and a companion web site where members could upload their own content.

Not sure of the licensing, come to think of it. It might have been more along the model of a photo-sharing site. That is, you /could/ CC license your stuff, but it wasn't required.

It's nice seeing your tax spent like this...if there's anything that Australia has gotten right, it's public broadcasting.

That's great news for the CC community. One thing though -- Where is this "Austalia" mentioned in the headline?

Hmm... Is that me or the logo looks like a pile of poo and the project is called Pool?

There some of my alter-ego Bassling on POOL, not the best stuff though: http://www.pool.org.au/users/bassling

The best stuff is the SHAKES album I released under CC in 2004: http://www.bassling.com

As for Australia getting public broadcasting right, they're certainly doing more to get viewers to go digital than the commercial stations could manage. It's a shame they're charging for online content though, unlike the BBC.
