Fun-O-Meter vending machine update

Jake Bronstein says:
Wait, you ran some pictures of my Fun Idea machine the other day before I'd even posted it. I don't know why it didn't occur to me that that might happen... I watched people take pictures of it all day... but how about some linkage? People seem to like it, huh? Maybe you could even share the whole story.Meet the Fun-O-Meter

If I saw this thing in my daily travels, I'd plunk fifty cents into it for sure. Probably more than once.
My only quibble is with the name "Fun-O-Meter". It's really not a meter, it doesn't measure anything. Perhaps it would be better named "Fun-Dispenser".
Otherwise, totally cool. Make more.
Wait so there is a guy just going around setting these things down? I have a penchant for being cynical so my first two thoughts were, "This guy is going to be arrested and charged for some terrorist offense and have his machines detonated by the bomb squad," and secondly, "can't someone just pick it up and run off with the change inside?"
Yeah I know, I'm not much fun at parties.
This refutes my old boss' assertion that ideas are a dime a dozen.
The "fun guy" looks like he is being played by Ben Affleck.
Make sure you do not taunt happy fun ball.
Yes, it's clearly a fun-o-*mat*, not a fun-o-*meter*.
Does the Coin-Operated Church of Elvis still exist in Portland (ore.)?
...thus the Fun-O-Mat is born...
(I believe there is still a Jimi Hendrix Electric Church in S.F. on Market St.)
Gosh, it almost sounds like he's complaining about being blogged about. Perhaps that's just the way it reads.
That's an awesome photo with the mannequin chicks behind it.
Curtis Jackson is going to sue somebody over this....
But a gasometer dispenses gas, so a funometer could dispense fun, in metered amounts.
oh my, jake bronstein was behind that? the guy from road rules?
reading this guy's blog, it sure seems like boing boing and wooster collective should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for not giving this contraption's unknown maker a chance to report on it first, whenever he damn well feels like it.
So that we could get a bunch of comments about how this story is so ten minutes ago? What blogger does something like this without reporting it right away? Or even doing a post on how he made the thing. That said, he's quite easy on the eyes.
Proto @3
Nope, a dime a dozen is still the wholesale price. You just have to buy them by the pallet-load, which is 12,000 dozen. Not many of us can take advantage of 144,000 tightly packed, ungraded ideas, shrinkwrapped onto a big old skid on the loading dock.
50 - 10/12 is something over 4900% markup, which sounds big, but there's a lot of overheads involved in getting quality ideas to retail.

They should be "thoroughly ashamed"? The comment from the original submitter was "Spotted this en route to work this morning at the bodega out front of my house in the East Village NYC. Any ideas? I was in too much of a hurry to take the bait." So, basically, "hey, here's something odd and kind of cool I saw while walking down the street. Does anyone know anything about it?"
How were Boing Boing or anyone else supposed to know that this was an in-process project? I don't see any sign over the vending machine saying "art project - please do not report on or take photos of" or anything like that.
If I see something funky on the sidewalk, I may well take a picture of it. If the artist wants to control how people respond to the art — including being able to keep people from photographing it — they shouldn't put it on a public sidewalk.
Jake0748 "Perhaps it would be better named "Fun-Dispenser"."
No! That's what it says on my underwear. At least it used to, until I lost that damn false-advertising lawsuit.
@15, I read 12 as sarcasm. Did anyone else?
I dunno about sarcasm, but I read everything as Greek. Unfortunately, my Greek is weak. Also, I rhyme all the time.
Has anyone purchased a sample from the fun-o-matic?
I'd be interested in finding out the quality of the ideas.
In fact, one could start a flickr group (tag?) for people to share the idea they received and also share pics of them following-through on the idea.
I suppose the tag would be 'funometer' but I still prefer 'funomatic'.
