Rock, according to different video games

Here's a magnificent grid showing how a humble rock would be displayed by an enormous variety of video games' rendering engines, executed with affection and wit (Fipi Lele pointed out that the Zork version would be, "There is a rock here."). The rock is the perfect, Sluggo/Zippy-esque subject for this kind of comparison, absolutely bang-on.
All I know about this image is that Kotaku apparently published it in April, 2006. Oh, and that it rocks. So to speak. Link (Thanks, Fipi Lele!)

I'm waiting for the coffee table book of crates from games...

Asteroids might have been my favorite.
Some of those might even be slightly older: I remember seeing one with less images slightly after both HL2 and Doom 3 were out.
Doom 3 being my favourite.
@1: That would be a great idea. "From Sokoban to Half-Life 2: The Big Book Of Videogame Crates"
the 'normal rock' looks unhappy.
I don't play videogames much, but this is awesome. I love the Battlezone one. (He says with much nostalgia, missing his genuine used-from-the-arcade Battlezone game.)
Out of this World was one of my favorite games for a long time. Glad to see it represented. The rock needed a black slimy inch worm on it though.
The Shadow of the Colossus rock is incredibly accurate.
Heh - yea Zork one is definitely wrong. One character per "thing"!
AAAH! NETHACK one :(
That's the funniest thing I've seen this week. I cracked up at Duke Nukem 3D, DoA4, and Asteroids.
Where's the TF2 rendering? :(
For those of you who don't recognize JSRF (Jet Set Radio Future), go find a copy of Jet Set Radio or Jet Set Radio Future or even Jet Grind Radio (from Japan) and play it. It will make your soul happy, be sure to crank the tunes though.
