Sweet steampunk recumbent trike

Steampunk maker Jake von Slatt sez, "I've been into human powered vehicles for a long time, far longer then my current passion for steampunk. So I got very excited when Eric and Alan (aka Steuben's Wheelmen) sent me some new pictures of their completed and fully steampunkified tadpole trike!" Link (Thanks, Jake!)

I think this bike looks great, other than the tires (they look like electric wheel chair tires). It would have looked super slick with white walls and more steam punky than it does now. Those sweet looking wood fenders are going to waste with those white rubber atrocities.

How would my neck feel about this? I stopped riding my road bike, but my beach cruiser is still comfy. Stupid snowboarding.

the carriage lamps make it for me! Hope they burn oil. (well, not whale oil)

Nice ride! I wonder what horn or bell is available for the bike. Additionally, the tires could do with an upgrade: balloon tires, for example.

That. Rocks.

I did a 2,000-mile trek on a Greenspeed GTO trike, and got quite a few stares on the back roads of Virginia and Kentucky...I would've gotten even more if I was pedaling a contraption like this!

Probably would've been murder on the hills, though...

Thanks for the comments people, and thanks Cory. :)
About the /front/ tires (the rear Kenda tire is fine: Those front tires are literally the only 20 inch white tires I could find other than 120 dollar replicas from Coker. White tires simply look period appropriate as they predate the addition of carbon to toughen up the tread (giving birth to both whitewalls and regular black tires).
Our next trike will be Art Deco with whitewalls.

Steampunk! Steampunk!
This is really gorgeous. Living in an age when whimsy can become reality gives me hope.

That very horn Takuan posted a link to a pic of is indeed on the trike, you'll see it if you click through the link to Steampunk Workshop along with many other pics and a short video all more flattering than the pic here. ;)

Neither steam powered or punk rock. hmmm. But very pretty regardless.

Incredible! What a way to show up to a steampunk event! But the goggles he's wearing are far too plain.

One should hope that the next steampunk event he shows up to is the Great West End Hand-car Regatta and Exposition of Mechanical and Artistic Wonders in Santa Rosa, CA in September!!

Alas, the opposite side of the country entails certain financial restrictions. Crackerjack idea though, the Hand-car Regatta.

It needs clunky wooden spokes.

Top marks for using a carbide lamp, but that red monoshock sticks out like a sore thumb. I'd love to see it with leaf springs...
