New Amy Sol paintings
One of my favorite contemporary painters, Amy Sol, has a show of lovely new paintings opening at Thinkspace Art Gallery in Los Angeles on Friday. The exhibition, titled Karmic Magic, runs until July 4. The gorgeous piece seen here, Kokiri Carousel, will be available as a signed print in an edition of 75. Dan-Ah Kim will also be exhibiting work in the gallery's project room. All of the art is viewable online.Link to Amy Sol gallery, Link to Dan-Ah Kim gallery

whadda ya know...along comes a unicorn chaser for the tongue post~
Amy Sol's work continues to be beautiful. It is too bad her prints are so very expensive on a grad school budget!
I've been looking forward to this show. What do her prints go for anyway? Just ballpark.
The print I mention above is 18" x 22 1/2" and will sell for $250.
Call me crazy but this poster reminds me of the "Superflat" movement coming out of Japan, influenced by manga and anime.
The Royal/T Gallery in Culver City has a pretty good exhibit of Superflat art...and also an Akihabara-style "maid cafe".
I got to see her speak at the Semi-Permanent design conference in Sydney at the beginning of the year. While I absolutely fell in love with her (she's very 'spaced out') and love her style and greatly admire the skill and workmanship she puts into her work, I think that creatively it seems like she doesn't challenge herself enough.
Her work is incredibly beautiful, we have an original at the gallery that is for sale. Such a beautiful painter!
