Comic Epitaphs from the Very Best Old Graveyards

Leif of Today's Inspiration found a copy of Comic Epitaphs from the Very Best Old Graveyards (1957) in a used book store. He scanned some of the pages. If you are a fan if the cartoonist Seth, you'll love these. Used copies with dust jacket intact are going for as little as 24 cents on Amazon! Link

The idea that tombstones could be fun is pretty spiffy too. Speaks to a healthier attitude about death if you ask me.

My grandparents have this book, and I read it cover to cover as a kid. Never thought I'd see it here on BoingBoing.

Can anyone find more details on where these graves are? I can't find anything on http://www.findagrave.com/ for any of these. I'm just wondering if they are real or made up. If anyone can find photographs of the actual graves that would be great. Google just seems to be showing me other references to this book. I know I'm being lazy, but I don't live near any of the places mentioned in the scans.

My epitaph is going to be from Gravity's Rainbow:

Death is a debt to nature due,
which I have paid, and so must you.

I also like:

As you are, so was I
As I am, so shall you be.

lol, very nice, and the illustration is similar to Seth, which in turn takes a lot from the very much still living form of cartooning, both of which i love. I've got to get a credit card so i can get in on the sweet interdeals action.
