we had a cow scull on our back porch that a small bird used as a nest. the nest with actually inside where the brain would be, and the little bird would pop in and out of the whole where the spinal chord exited the scull.

it was quite cool to see

I was thinking of makeing something similar- at present we just have a normal nesting box with 'abandon hope all ye who enter here' painted on it. Doesn't seem to put off the blue tits.
