History Channel on Bilderberg Group

Steve Lodefink says: A lot of my favorite fringe/kook information sites are chattering about the Secret Bilderberg meeting that is going on in the D.C. suburbs this week. Here is what the History Channel says. This is Wikipedia on the topic. Here are the 2008 attendees. Link

#1 it sure is, loony as ever. Thing is they kind of have a point. The Bilderbergers represent the most powerful and secretive people on Earth and the decisions they make affect millions. And Bush = Reptilian? Totally real.

1) Do we have any indication that what is going on there is bad?

Just because a bunch of super powerful and/or super wealthy people get together for a super secret meeting once a year doesn't mean that they're up to no good... or does it?

Although private citizens should be able to have all of the private meetings they want without having to report the happenings and goings on to the press, civil servants and elected gov't officials shouldn't because there is no transparency to the process.

Of course, it's probably just a boring old seminar where they talk about global economics and so forth.

For those interested in learning more about this topic, I would suggest watching "Endgame - Blueprint for Global Enslavement". It is available on Google video.

i'm surprised nobody else linked this meeting to the recent suburb lockdown in DC, probably just a coincidence but bilderberger meetings get picketed by all sorts of kooky people. i personally find a lot of interesting and plausible content to the non-reptile-theory stuff that icke talks about and others like alex jones who also usually makes an appearance at the margins of the bilderberger meetings doesn't go kooky at all (if you have actually bothered to look at the arguments and evidence suggesting that 911 was an inside job - note that many of the attendees are us government bigwigs - there's a lot to be said for his theory when you see the mountain of evidence he gathered)

oh yes, that explains everything. Another fringe lunatic short.

Then again anything is a welcomed change from the 9/11 conspiracy half-wits.

I was fine with my paranoid delusions and conspiracy theories. It was even fun sometimes. But when you see this group of the most powerful people on earth being super secretive you have wonder "can this be good?". Is the secrecy just so they don't get interrupted trading recipes?

I downloaded and watched part of Endgame about 6 months ago and was totally turned off by the ridiculous tone, graphics and music. Despite that, I thought that there was lots of interesting information that warranted further scrutiny.

I mean, after all, these are heads of state, high counselors of state and leaders of industry getting together at conference centers. Its not like they're hanging out surfing at the beach. If they are discussing matters of state, then they should not be doing that without the official approval of their respective democratic institutions. If they are not discussing matters of state, then why the need for secrecy?

I don't believe they're making plans for world domination or enslavement, but I do think it is a legitimate question to ask why such a meeting is held in such secrecy and why we the people, whose lives they control, should not be allowed to scrutinize them.

"A list of humankind's parasites". How true. Irrespecive of the purpose of the Bildeberg group, there are names on that list that make me sick to my stomach Most of them in bold.

These guys may not be reptillian, but they ARE certainly insectoid.

Silly people. There's no such thing as a "Bilderberg Group", it's just a paranoid fantasy like Karl Rove or the so-called city of Roswell.

#11, I've looked into Alex Jones and he's even more laughable than David Icke. Jones' theory is that 9/11 happened so that Arnold Schwarzenegger can become president, reform the Nazi party, and take over the world. The guy who showed the Jones video to me had to stop the video right then in order to not come off as loony for advocating Jones' position.

Jones, however, comes off loony regardless. The guy is a crypto-fascist making obvious cues to the fact that he'd love to see fascism in America. Just look at how he advocates the old International Jewish Bankers Created Communism theory (which he Disneyfies by leaving out the Jewish part). Likewise, he advocates voting for Ron Paul, a blatant white supremacist, for president (ya, I know Paul's fans won't agree on that; they are still in denial of the obvious). Trust me, Alex "screaming into a megaphone in every public appearance" Jones is no more sane than your average conspiracy nut.

oh, also, to those of you who've never been to DC, and feel like stringing together uncorrelated coincidences, the George Washington Memorial Masonic Lodge (a huge Freemason's temple) is in the same area of the suburbs as this is taking place.

This sounds a lot like the tired "if you have nothing to hide, why do you need encryption?" argument.

I don't need to have something to hide in order to need encryption. I don't need something to hide in order to want secrecy and security for myself and others I meet with.

Just as the encryption argument is defunct because it assumes that you can only need encryption if you're hiding something illicit/illegal... the argument that tight secrecy and security must mean illegal/illicit/evil overlord activities go on is also defunct.

Grow up, people. Realize that freedom is for everyone, not just you.

Libel, begging the question.

Yeah, he's a real racist, going to address the Morgan State debate focusing on minority issues when few of the other Republican candidates would.

Footage of all Ron Paul's coments at Morgan State

What a jerk, complaining about the drug war and disparate sentencing for blacks. Talking about how poor minorities are more likely to receive death penalty so he rejects it.

Or saying that "racism is a sin of the heart".

Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. [...] The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence, not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.

johngalt2008 #29:

I agree with you. Secrecy does not prove anything sinister.

However there is absolutely the appearance of impropriety when sitting government officials meet secretly with industry leaders, and bribe the Fourth Estate with free memberships to the club on condition of secrecy.

Furthermore many of these are the same individuals advocating for warrantless wiretapping and searches. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

@8: The first half of "Endgame" is actually fairly good and interesting. But towards the middle to end Alex Jones goes for the Art Bell fanboy of the year award. In other words it gets a little ridiculous and implausible. Though if he is right we are all screwed, no matter where you happen to live.

@19: Good question. The fact that this sort of thing was aired on the history channel just proves to me that the Bilderberg's are basically defunct and is now probably just a ruse to draw attention away from the real secret cabal of power-people.

@ 20: Ron Paul, fascist/white supremacist? I would like more info on that assertion as it is not really that obvious to me.

Whatever the case with this group and their plans, I think Adam Smith put it best when he said "People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. It is impossible indeed to prevent such meetings, by any law which either could be executed, or would be consistent with liberty and justice. But though the law cannot hinder people of the same trade from sometimes assembling together, it ought to do nothing to facilitate such assemblies; much less to render them necessary." In easy to chew terms "when you see two business people conversing, chances are they are engaging in a conspiracy against the people."

Vsync: if what's good for the goose is good for the gander, then you really want people wiretapping YOUR phones and invading YOUR privacy? You're advocating *their* loss of privacy, so what's good for the goose...

There doesn't appear to be any impropriety here. Non-disclosure agreements are common place in American society. HP and IBM are not up to nefarious deeds when they make an engineer sign one before he joins a product team. But, because this involves a few government officials you automatically assume it's nefarious.

You guys really need to step outside the bounds of emotions and work up a real argument on why this group is bad. You might consider backing it up with facts and evidence.
