Here are two fun how-to projects. From CRAFT, how to incorporate LEDs into embroidery, and from MAKE, how to make your own iodine from potassium iodide.
I love the thing on making Iodine, though given the changes in the whole DEA rules for the stuff (its IODINE not C4 Sheesh) I wonder if someone is going to get a knock on their door for making them look like idiots.
I think brass and lead should not be sold to the public either, because bad people can use those materials to make bullets, and bullets hurt many more people than just the end user. Usually they hurt everybody except the user so brass and lead are clearly more dangerous than iodine, unless you use the iodine to make explosives of course.
I'm glad our gov't has a sane drug policy; why just look at what a raging success it is!
Just watched the maker video and wanted to point out that safety goggles only protect your eyes from acids and other chemicals if you wear them over your eyes. It's a bad habit to wear your safety glasses on your neck or your forehead. Safety First!
Where do I get conductive thread? I have a pack of LEDs and I can salvage a switch and a battery from something in the attic, but I don't have conductive thread.

Never mind the fact that people now break into chemistry labs to steal iodine.
