Video: The Destructive Waltz - slow-motion combat robotics
Robert Woodhead says:
Last weekend I unleashed the Casio Exilim EX-F1 camera (which can do 300, 600 and 1200 fps video) at the Carolina Combat Robotics event. This was a warmup for doing similar videography at RoboGames next month, but you might enjoy this little video, set to "The Blue Danube"LinkThe website link< has links to other high-speed videos I've done while testing out the camera.

that was really cool. I'm a big fan of the robot with the giant ring - it seems like there is finally a design that will always beat a wedge
You can see these robots and many more at RoboGames in San Francisco, this June 13-15!
#1: Yeah, I'm glad something beats the wedges as well, it made events like these kind of boring to watch.
I really like when the ringed robot does the barrel roll at 3:30. Sweeeeeet.
I have so many "DO A BARREL ROLL" pictures on my hard drive right now, but I'm thinking of taking a screen cap....
I blew most of my savings on the exact same camera two weeks ago and have been having a great, if much less robot-related, time with it. Here are some human motions in the same high-speed frame rate:
Cannonball: http://brofax.com/?p=154
Wheelchair baseball: http://brofax.com/?p=153
Pole Vault: http://brofax.com/?p=150
That wheelchair baseball was nothing like what I was imagining.
That camera is definitely on my wish list. It's about time someone brought high speed video to the masses.
I found is very relaxing, save for when the robot was attacking the fax machine; then, my internal Mortal Kombat kicked in and I found myself growling, "FINISH HIM!"
