put on your skateboard, add cops in the mix, stir, and serve up viral video ...

Could this (with a few tweaks) become the CatCam that I've long dreamed of putting on my pussycat?

Now, if it had a wifi transmitter, we'd be all set for my own personal UAV.

Someone did a catcam; I think it might have been on BoingBoing at some point - it was one of those tiny cheap digital cameras hacked with a circuit to make it take a picture every minute or two.

Here it is: http://www.mr-lee-catcam.de/cc_index_en.htm

you could also mount this on the dash in your car. It will record continuously and keep overwriting the old data until you hit the shutter button again.

How many times I have wished I had been recording what was going on in front of me as I was driving.

also- it appears to have a "spy cam" mode where it is motion or thermal activated? Someone has been trying to break into my garage recently. This would be very useful and a lot less expensive than rigging up something else.

@ #3 That's exactly what I was thinking!

That's pretty damn cool. It even has a time lapse mode built in, although I don't think you can change the delay from the default 4 seconds.

If I can work out a good way to mount this to my powerkite I'm ordering one.

Like destroying freedom! Everyone knows that only terrorists use cameras and other such deviltry.

This definitely has gootube written all over it. I can't wait to see some of the results.

This thing was really made for hobbyists. It even has exposed contacts for remotely triggering the shutter!

...but that's not the only reason I want one.

Not bad in terms of weight, but poor quality video -- if you check on the company's video links you'll see that it shares the problems with many cheap helmet cams etc. of this genre & price level -- odd strobing of rotating objects and a weird underwater effect when fast vibrations or motion occurs.

(dentist's drill soundtrack alert)

It's often better to get an inexpensive/EBay digital camera that will shoot better video.

How about replacing this cheapo camera with a real digital camera, say about 10 megapixels. Those would weigh about 200-300g with batttery. Then we'll need pan-tilt-zoom servos plus power for that. Add a cheap spycam with wireless transmission (not wifi) plus power for that, and we're looking at about 500g plus.

What kind of RC planes can carry that kind of weight? I'm thinking of helium blimps or hot air balloons. How much would all these stuff cost? (minus the camera which most of us already have)
