No BBtv today, we're slacking off.

The Boing Boing tv crew is hard at play today, as you can see from the webcam snapshot above. We'll see you again tomorrow. Happy Memorial Day to our US audience. A quick peek at Wikipedia reveals that this is "National Sorry Day" in Australia, which sounded funny until we read the article; more here. Now if that ain't an Ape Lad LOLCat comic waiting to happen.

And just for the record - that rabbit is freaking me out.

Cheers.

This postcard was sent to me anonymously from Amsterdam. I have been getting these "Stuff on my Cat" cards for about five months from all over the world. The last one was from Thailand. It is still a mystery to me.

Enjoy your day of slack and/or quiet contemplation.

Ah! Harry Whittier Frees, the master of cute animal photography - a genius at his craft.

Um. The intent of Memorial Day is to remember the dead. Soooooo ... it's not the kind of thing of which you're meant to wish for happy observance.

Oh dear, you are correct. Oh well. I hope you had a nice day anyway.

I used to live with a filmmaker from Japan. He was doing a movie for American audiences wherein the plot revolved around the notion that the dead walk the earth to commune with the living on Memorial Day. I had to explain to him that the only things that commune with the living on Memorial Day are hot dogs and potato salad.

I'd like to think the dead would wish us happiness.

I'd like to think the dead would wish us happiness.

But I think we all know that they just want our brains.

I thought the crew in the picture already looked dead and stuffed - but reading about the work of Harry Whittier Frees it appears that I was mistaken. All the more amazing, then.
