Shane Glines recreates classic comic pin-up pages

Artist Shane Glines has been putting his old spin on a few classic comic book pin up pages, including Fantastic Four and Josie and the Pussycats. I like this one of Crystal, an homage to a Jack Kirby page.
Joe Kick Ass found the original art, shown here. Thanks!
Shanes' Cartoon Retro site costs $5 a month via PayPal. It's the only website I've ever subscribed to, and it's well worth the money if you are a fan of great cartoon art. Link

I also subscribe to Cartoon Retro and it's worth every penny.
Has Boingboing ever considered a sketch blog or a group sketch blog? Maybe on flickr? I'd participate.
I'll talk to Teresa about it. Although I wouldn't hold my breath, since we can't even upload photos to our profile pages yet. But it's a good idea. I still want BB Dating.
BB dating?... very well, since it is you who asks. I must admit though, in the last few millenniums I have found the boring a little painful. Are core samples for ring counts really the only option?
audio frequency counts perhaps?
I met him on a Monday and my heart stood still
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Somebody told me that his name was Bill
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Yes, my heart stood still
Yes, his name was Bill
And when he walked me home
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
I knew what he was doin' when he caught my eye
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
He looked so quiet, but my oh my
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Yes, he caught my eye
Yes, my oh my
And when he walked me home
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Picked me up at seven and he looked so fine
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Someday soon, I'm gonna make him mine
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Yes, he looked so fine
Yes, I'll make him mine
And when he walked me home
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron
Da doo ron ron ron da doo ron ron

That's not a bad idea. It could be a lot of fun. I'll look into it, Noen.

One of the best ever. Nice.
OK, I've got a couple of peeves WRT the homage:
1) I don't have a problem with someone doing an homage to a classic bit of artwork; in fact, I enjoy it because I usually get to see a familiar subject filtered through someone else's style. The problem here is that the style seems like a very generic amalgam of Bruce Timm/Darwyn Cooke and Spumco; the only thing about Glines that I get from this is that he probably has a pretty decent commercial career. Even when Kirby was working in animation, he was free to be Jack Kirby.
2) In the original, Crystal is looking at the viewer, and Johnny Storm is relegated to a background detail; in the homage, the focus is on Crystal looking adoringly at Johnny's picture. 'Nuff said, I hope.
