Man sprays bottled urine in grocery stores

A gentleman from Gloucester, England was arrested last week for spraying a "foul-smelling substance," likely urine, on fruit, meat, and the salad bar in two area supermarkets. Police say they have no idea why he did such a thing. From the Lancshire Evening Post:
A Gloucestershire police spokesman said.."The device he was using is described as a kind of tube. Clearly this is a very unusual incident. A man has been arrested and a full investigation is under way. We are appealing for any witnesses who have not already contacted us to come forward.

"The substance is believed to be of no threat to public safety."

Is this guy trying to compete with Newman's Own when it comes to salad dressing?

While nasty, urine is sterile inside the bladder. So no real harm done, just wash your veggies.

Why do you call this degenerate a gentleman. Now all of that food has to be thrown out. I hate waste, and this food could have gone to a needy family. Who will eat food that has been pissed on?

@ NOEN:

True, but there's generally some bacteria living in the lower urethra, which can get carried into the urine.

Still no real harm done, I'm just being a pedant. Carry on.

Unless someone has an issue with their kidneys. (And the bacteria Bugs mentions). Certain diseases make your urine Disneyland for bacteria.

Who will eat food that has been pissed on?
Animals could, but not animals that are for human consumption. Dump it all in the forest?

It should compost quite well. Annnnnnndddd.... I think that's about it for me on this topic.

this was NOT urine... it has been analysed by one of the attacked stores and found to be a mix of urine, faeces and household cleaning agents... He allegedly attacked racks of children's books in a local bookstore and also sprayed the stuff around in a public house after having had a weird conversation with the barmaid... he was asking her how much to kiss her and how much to rape her... the bookstore and pub both noticed a strong smell from where he'd been, but didn't actually see him committing the act. Some 700 or so books had to be thrown out, the affected stores had to call in specialist cleaners.

How do I know this? I live 1/2 a mile from one of the affected stores

household cleaning agents...

Okay, bin my earlier idea. By the way, before anyone rags on me for supporting urine-food for the forest critters, most forest critters could handle the nasty and also go for food whenever they can get it.

Manic, that is absolutely farking crazy. Somebody needs some meds and white walls.

Manicbassman, thanks for the link! Saw the story elsewhere and wondered if it was just urine...

I recall a guy from my old hometown who was caught on video tape sneaking up behind shoppers in a department store, and urinating on them (just a tiny bit) before walking quickly away. I found that funny and curious, but this guy with the spray bottle I find insane and borderline dangerous.

Great, now I have to wear a hazmat suit when I go to the store.

Don't you already have one from visiting Takuan? Or does the SCUBA equipment make it overkill?

Friends of my sister's ex once found a dead bat packaged it up neatly, labelled it "Bat, $2.00" and hid it among the meat display at Coles. Pobably wasteful and costly for the supermarket. Still, wish I could have been there at the time, I think it would have been hilarious.

No, I think we have a new entry for the DSM.

To those of who live in the sticks, sprinkling or spraying human male urine on trees is an effective way to predators away. Apparently, this works at the grocer's as well.
