Massive guitar for sale
Landscape artist Mike Shubic can make you a humongous guitar like the 12-foot-long beaut seen here. This particular style starts at $6500 plus shipping. From his eBay listing:
This is an acoustic style guitar sculpture that can be made in any size, finish or style, and, you can actually strum it. The strings are piano wire in various sizes and the piece can be tuned (to some degree).Link (Thanks, Michael-Anne Rauback!)

Awesome
$6500 hmm thats an seems like a ok deal, but I'm really sold if he throws in a couple dinner plate size guitar picks...
This is SO cool, but what are you supposed to use for strings? Maybe those twisted wires that support telephone poles? I think it would take at least 4 people to play one of these. If they were all in synch, you could get a really good jam going.
But yes, I understand that it's a sculpture. I'm just letting my imagination go.
OOPS, sorry I didn't finish reading the intro. But still I contend, even with piano wire it would still take four people to play it.
:D
It's not that much bigger than a contrabass balalaika.
I'm gonna need a capo too, I'm afraid.
why isn't it playable? Says who? I have a favorite Henry Moore bronze I visit and hammer out tunes on.
Two words...
HOLY SHIT!
"contrabass balalaika"
Go on... get outta here.
I'm sure my hands will learn to stretch.
I second the comment about needing a capo and raise Fnarf a pickup.
It'd be good for long guitar solos
Guitars make wonderful ornaments!
"But still I contend, even with piano wire it would still take four people to play it."
Dude, you just have to be a rock badass (such as myself, for example). Here is your first easy lesson: when anyone you see or hear plays an amazingly hot guitar solo/progression/effect/other, just shrug nonchalantly and say: "I could play that." The same principle applies here. If 4,5, or 6 people manage to strum out anything from a 12 foot guitar sculpture, just shrug, say "Yeah, I could play that, er whatever." .. and don't forget, if they actually challenge you to play, it's not worth your time, because, remember, you are a rock badass.
Let me just say that if I were to become the next "Naked Cowboy", this would be the guitar for me.
/That's all I wanted to say.
:D
