MUNI makes Narnia poster cool

Check out this pic taken of a Narnia banner on the side of a San Francisco MUNI bus.

I love the unfortunate [re:awesome] placement of one of the buses yellow reflectors over Prince Caspian’s face. Imagine this evil eye blinking on and off at you as the bus makes a turn. Can you say Scott Summers? I would love to see how the Chronicles of Narnia would deal with “the mutant problem”.

It does rather divert attention to his luscious Telmarine lips. I think I might envy Ramandu's daughter.

@ 2 Tak,
You're more illuminating than the microfiche. In other news, I used a microfiche today for the first time in years, looked up my and my friends date of birth, and watched Soviet - American relations improve as Iraq situation vers. 1.0 began. November 2, 1990, as situation is growing tense and people are becoming nervous, January 5, as war is about to be declared, and February 17, as the war has been on a month and is already being questioned as Bush's ego and an attempt for oil.

Also, beginnings of video recorded cop cars, 35 mm cameras that cost 100$, stamps raising to 29C... ah, the changes.

Except the politics. That doesn't ever change.

ever used the roll film readers? Lots of cranking.

That is hilarious. I'd love to know which vendor did the mechanicals for that, as the templates clearly show all areas that cannot be overprinted. It wasn't like nobody knew this blinker was there when they built the mechanical...unless the client, thinking they were saving fifteen hundred bucks, 'picked up' a templated mechanical for a different type of bus rather than have a new one built.

Is it just me, or is it the close-together eyes and too serious look, Roman nose and cleft chin that makes Prince Caspian look like he was modeled by Martin Short?

I hate comics fans who feel the need to use the most obscure "inside" references to a character from a comic book, as if doing so makes them cool.

I was talking with my fiend James Howlett and my other good friend Frank Castle about this the other day.

LogrusZed,

From your comment history, it appears that you hate pretty much everyone and everything. And were you under the impression that Prince Caspian is a character from a comic book or was that just a random explosion of pus?

Antinous, I think LZ was referring to the fact that "Scott Summers" was used to refer to Cyclops in the original post, though it hardly seems like grounds for hating someone.

@ 8 Logruszed,

Obscure? Scott Summers?
I think not. Perhaps he was before your time.

Mark's free to make any nerdy references he'd like. It's his blog post. You could employ the use of a certain four letter acronym beginning with "G" and ending with "TFO."

... It's past my bedtime. I'm getting cranky.

Good night, BB!

@4 Takuan,
The machine at the new library was refusing to comply, so yes. Lots of cranking.

In even more unnecessary news about my day, they relocated our library. And made the mistake of painting it in bright colors and leaving the aisles open to navigation.

Now everyone thinks it's a great place for conversation. Even in the Reference section. I mourn.

@8: Scott Summers = obscure comic reference? He was only a main character in three huge movies in the last few years. If that's your idea of obscure, you need to crawl out from under your rock... or at least get Netflix to send you DVDs under there.

@12: BWAHAHA.

Also, have a relevant cat macro!

When one of the Harry Potter films came out in the UK, there were adverts all over the double decker buses. Each one had some sort of round panel access handle sticking through the advert, right on the side of Hermione's nose, giving her a perfectly positioned nose stud.

@13 Tenn & @15 Ornith:

Um, I believe LZ was being sarcastic, guys. Did you see his mention of James Howlett? That would be Logan's, aka Wolverine, real name. And Frank Castle? That's the Punisher, if I'm not mistaken. And I'm not. Guy knows his stuff.

LZ - very nice!

@17 Phoenix21,
I blame exhaustion. I recognized Frank Castle (I refuse to call Logan Howlett) but not enough to remember it was the Punisher.

@8 Logruszed,
My apologies for a lack of a sense of humor! I unfairly insulted you. Beer on me. In 4 years.

No prob. I relish any chance to show off my comic book geekiness. And to help others get free beer.

Tenn: No sweat, I just figure it was another case of one of the net's biggest failings, the inability to see the smirk I had on my face as I was typing.

I should have fallen back on the FARK tactic of typing "/sarcasm" at the end of my post.
