Charlie Rose interviews himself in edited video
Filmmaker Andrew Filippone Jr. edited an episode of Charlie Rose to make it look like he's interviewing himself.
Something has happened to PBS favorite "Charlie Rose." The erudite conversations and sober intellectualism have been replaced by an absurd world where illogic, inane dialogues, and open hostility rule. The one-on-one interview between Charlie and his guest begins as usual but quickly goes awry, so much so that Charlie is warned that, somewhere, a man named "Steve" is "not happy." Though this seemingly random statement might confuse us, Charlie understands it for what it is -- a threat. But who is "Steve" and why is he angry? And why does the mere mention of his name stop Charlie cold? Using appropriated footage from a single episode of "Charlie Rose," filmmaker Andrew Filippone Jr. creates something both disturbing and farcical in "'Charlie Rose' by Samuel Beckett."Link

So neither of them let the other one get a word in edgewise?
I'd say that I laughed out loud, but then later readers wouldn't. So I won't.
I'm sorry, call me a whatever you will, but I LIKE watching the Charlie Rose show, whenever I get a chance and the guest(s) might be interesting to me. Yeah, he is one of those guys who is an instant caricature of himself. He's a lovable goof. But he seems to be fairly intelligent, well read and educated. I like to think that if he sees this he would get a laugh out of it.
IMHO, you can't beat that plain black background they use. It tends to focus the viewer on what is being said.

I enjoy Charlie Rose and love this video... but your statement about this being from a single episode is untrue

I feel like this is a great idea that could be done much better...
Everything about the Charlie Rose show is great - guests, background - except Charlie Rose. Imagine how good it would be if it were called the Terry Gross show.
You know, as far as interviewers go, Charlie Rose is second only to Mrs. Terry Gross. Having said that, I burst into hysterics several times while watching this.
This is begging for a techno remix.
Oh, this is brilliant and perfect as it is. I laughed until something hurt on my left side. Right side.
The Charlies are wearing different ties. Prolly not the same show. Still, 'tis very well done. And the Beckett namecheck helps it, frames it. Otherwise it might seem bland and underdone, silly. With it it seems nicely absurdist and just a tad creepy.

Fade to (or into) black.

I think it's...darkly brilliant!
(Just like Steve.)
Gooogle...
I love the shake of the head when he says "Radiohead".
Nice! It's like a live-action Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
"Do you know how many time zones there are in the Soviet Union?"
Something has happened to PBS favorite "Charlie Rose."
PBS and NPR have been taken over by the howler monkeys from the right. They couldn't kill PBS outright so they just fill it with their shit. Like they do to everything.
Hey, I still like my NPR! It has a recent infestation of Righties, but that's quite alright with me since I was getting tired of being indoctrinated by the Lefties. I feel as though I'm taking some uppers to counteract my downers.
The idea of Charley Rose interviewing himself is a very amusing idea all by itself. I think this could have been even better if it had more realistic dialogue.
I'd like to see Terry Gross or Larry King interview themselves. They don't actually contribute anything to their interviews.
A daily show in Spain makes almost daily farcical edited interviews, most of the times facing a retired torero with other public figures

In that video, and the related ones that you mau check, Bruce Lee, Sarkozy, current Spanish pm Rodriguez Zapatero and more. The effect is very similar to the one observed in the one featured here.
This is brilliant. "Whats going to happen?"
I never realized how the set of the Charlie Rose Show was so Becketesque before either.
If this was a real performance by Charlie Rose he would deserve an Oscar. The body language and expressions are so poignant.
Wow, that was weird. Hard work, but quite funny. I've had acid trips like that. But not for many years, oh no.

Exactly
It's not even funny.

I completely agree. I was really waiting for more nonsense answers that were lengthy, not just a sample.
Reminded me of a drawn out Max Headroom with the repeats.
Meh.
Absofrigginlutely brilliant!! I laughed my ass off. He seemed more like a confused marketing guy spouting buzzwords than a technology analyst.
damn. first the milk video got pulled and now this? wah.
Beautiful stuff. It reminds me of the SCTV sketch where Dick Cavett interviews himself.
Negativland.
Fairly realistic portrayal of what happens when they introduce you to your secret clone while at work. At first, you just read off the Teleprompter, but then that whole throuh a mirror darkly thing takes over and your left having a breakdown on tv.
Please, consider in advance what you will do when you meet your secret clone. Can happen any time.
#18: True, but spanish TV is anunregulated mess that cannibalises celebrities / any public figure in the most awful of ways.
