You know how some things just won't work? Like trying to receive FM on an AM radio, for instance. That's what it's like for me and this sub genius thing. Which is a pity, because the pictures are amusing.
Yeah, HAYDUKE, somehow it doesn't happen. This Surrealist/Dada Subgenius Bob Dobbs trip seems to have been around a loooong time—and I haven't laughed yet.
@HAYDUKE: I'd grant that it helps if you grew up aware of all the weirdness that poses as normal in our world, especially in a religious vein. Dallas, where I was born, is called the Buckle of the Bible Belt for good reason, but it is no stranger to odd religious beliefs of all sorts. That, plus growing up in the town where Kennedy was supposedly shot by Oswald, as well as having a steady diet of bad science-fiction on Dallas TV, guaranteed I'd be primed for "Bob" when I finally encountered his face in, of all places, the Sunday newspaper.
But I digress. Perhaps the day will come when you'll encounter that one key bit that will make you see things from our point of view, and Slack will come your way in spades.
@BUDDY66: No, it's BULLDADA. There's a difference--we're not going for incomprehensibility or subconscious expression, but layers of thick, deep, rich MEANING, yes, actual CONTENT, under the surface appearance of nonsense and fantasy. Let Dobbs be your entrenching tool, friend, and DIG IT.
@TAKESHI: If the world doesn't end first *ahem* there will be future devivals, but whether there's one next year will depend on how this one goes. So far, this one looks like it might be big enough to consider a follow-up devival next year, but we'll see.
@GIANTNEGRO: I wouldn't expect Buck to approve--but he has not been involved in SubGenius for over a decade. Still, the first devival I preached at was hosted by Buck, and it was a dammy-fine devival at that.
@KRYSPYJO: Hail Sister Krys! I haven't heard anything from East Orange in a while--do you still have your radio show? As for Janor, he's alive and well and apparently performing his Mr. TV routine in San Francisco. I think Puzzling Evidence had him on his show sometime in the past couple of years, but it sounds like Janor forgot, or didn't care about, FCC regulations, so it's not clear if that'd happen again any time soon.
@MOONRACER23: A Happy Mutant is a Superior Mutant, or so it would seem.
Thanks for mammarizing me, LILLITHVF1998. I'm chuffed. Nawp, not on WFMU anymore but archives of my Subgenius rants are still available deep in the vaults of their site.
@TAKUAN: Oh, OK, that's doable--I thought you were saying nobody could leave the EARTH. I'm sure the Xists would respect your reasonable request and take the whole building should it come down to that.
@TAKUAN: Oh, OK--I thought you were saying we can't leave the planet, but I'm sure the Xists can accomodate your reasonable request and just Rupture the whole building. Why not?
In case anyone checks here--there is a known troll on alt.slack who is claiming the devival was canceled. Given that any official info will come from either myself or Kimberlily of ChickenHed, our devival partners, I recommend taking this with a dumptruck of salt, and shrug it off as typical devival shenanigans.
Um, right. We all know that the real final Devival won't be taking place until X-Day, AD 8661.

no slack for you
DADA is everything.
Buddy 66 - you hit it - it is DADA at its best.

@TAKESHI: Sorry I missed you earlier, but note this is the TENTH ANNIVERSARY Final SubGenius Devival. I'll be explaining it at the devival itself.
Ah, yes. A little quick on the draw. Well, if I'd had some extra notice, I certainly would have made it out. Ivan Stang owes me money.
There's always next year (I'm guessing).
The reverend Buck Naked would not approve.
For all of us who participated in the great schism I can only say that the New Shining Truth will ultimately prevail.
Whatever happened St. Janor Hypercleats! Sister Krys wants to know. Iyiyiyiiyiyiyiyiyiyiyeeeeee!
slackslackslackslackslack SLACK
I've been going through a bit of SubGenius inner revival lately and realizing I haven't gone to an X-Day since 98.
I'm so happy BoingBoing is down with the Dobbs.

(Note: the dates for the rants are meaningless exceptin' for the year.)
Down with the FCC! Or, should I say, up theirs! Choose the most convenient one.
I seem to have stumbled upon something very confusing here. I'll just back away slowly. Carry on.
no,you CAN'T leave NOW
@DCULBERSON: http://www.subgenius.com/ will help alleviate that confusion for you.
@TAKUAN: Huh? I thought we ALL wanted to leave, now.
NO! NO ONE IS TO LEAVE THE BUILDING! First, I must.... check.

Buddy66 may not laugh at SubGenius but SubGenius laugh at Buddy66!
