Window stickers with cell phone number

In some South Korean cities, it's so common to double park that car owners have nice stickers in their windows announcing their mobile phone numbers. I've seen people do this in the U.S. with hand-scribbled notes, but never as a permanent, designed sticker. Link (via Street Use)

This could lead to interesting conversations.

"Hello"

"I moved your car"

"How?"

"You'll see"

That car is a MINI!
(Observe vent pattern and logo in windshield decal.)

Proves once again that Mini drivers are courteous and evolved.

Another thing people do in Seoul is to double park, but leave the parking break off. Then person you may be blocking can just roll you out of the way.

I could have a lot of fun with that

@3 Seems a bit dangerous. Are there no hills in Seoul?

Just imagining a situation where a driver returns to their car and its totaled at the bottom of a very large hill.

or finds it in the same position but with a pair of legs sticking out from under the front wheels?

Mix a social hack with technology and more people can park with less hassle.

That is awesome!

The number is almost camouflaged as a VIN or some kinda manufacturer serial number.

@5 and @6: I only saw this being done in flat parking lots where there were lots of people around.

Someone should start a global campaign to call that guy's number. South Korea needs an 8-6-7-5-3-0-9 story of their own.

Better yet, a sticker with the mobile number of your worst enemy.

Elyse Sewell (the smartest woman to compete on America's Next Top Model) is blogging from South Korea, and this subject came up.

Another thing that happened today is that one of the managers, Taku, parked the van down a narrow street, and when we came out of the casting, it was blocked in by not one but two other cars. The models got in and waited in the van, and, preoccupied with chewing the fat, were totally surprised when Taku came back five minutes later and started driving down the open street.

"Taku, that was a fuckin' miracle!"

"No, all cars in Korea are require to display the driver's phone number on the window. I just call them. Block-in happen all the time."

In Thailand it is accepted practice for people to park horizontal in front/behind traditionally vertically parked cars in parking lots.

The Horizontal parkers simply leave the handbrake off, and when the blocked off vertical parkers wish to make an exit they simply push the car out of the way.

Makes for fun when you have a whole row of horizontal parkers. ( finally a reason for excessive bumper area on cars ;-)

Chiang Mai is one of the best places to spot this.

This is pretty common in Taiwan also.

Actually, having a paper with your number in your car proves that you deliberately parked wrongly. This may lead to higher fines, at least in Germany.

In regards to #14, it's so that you call them to move it, because they'd rather have you do that than to get a ticket. Some shop owners will watch your car and yell for you when a cop is coming by so you can move your car too. I take photos here 'n there, and I had a shop owner get nervous once because they thought I was a cop taking pictures for traffic tickets when I was just taking a picture of a funny sticker.
