@ #5, they're made with a "custom" (as you say :p) code in Processing, and last time i checked, they weren't rendered in real time.
The magnetosphere iTunes plugin, though, is a re-implementation of the Processing code in C++ (if I remember well), and runs in real-time.

"Vimeo user Flight404" sounds a bit like.. i don't know... "Flickr user gruntzooki". Robert Hodgin is kind of *well known* in the field of generative/code art, and has been active for years ;)
Magnetosphere iTunes plugin product description on Versiontracker is great:
Product Description:
Here is this thing that does stuff in iTunes. There is magnetism, there is gravity, but on top of all of that, there is awesomeness. Watch as all the dots and ribbons go bouncy bouncy when you play music and trigger this mo-fo of a visualizer. This is the future of visuals. God help you if you smoke the reefer cause you can kiss your productivity goodbye.
I wonder when "operating systemism" will be clearly regarded as the moronic BS that it really is...
Oh, look... we have an upset PC user. Is is "moronic" that I could give two shits about PCs? Why should I care about a platform I don't use? Because it upsets you?
I wonder when those that financially supported the globally desructive, anti-American Microsoft monopoly that raped charity in the trillions will be clearly regarded as the moronic idiots that they really are?
Those would be videos based on magnetosphere...

disclaimer: tbg are really good friends of mine.
tbg has pulled the magnetosphere installer, so no download for me.
This reminds me of Funki Porcini videos...

What people are talking about here is Processing, an open-source programming language for visual effects.

As udders have said, they pulled it off the site. I have the latest beta (for Apple Mac) and am going to seed it on the torrents shortly.
Here you go Apple Mac users:
Drag the plug-in to:
Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins
Also, download here:
