Big square USB-key duplicator

The awesomely, Sovietly square Nexcopy USB200PC key duplicator will flash 20 USB sticks at once from a master key. Sounds like a useful tool for samizdata (see, for example, Cuba, where keys were used to spread videos of a suppressed congressional crisis), and it's going to look great on the scrapheap of history in a decade or so! I assume its not standalone (which would actually make it quite effective, images of shady types in some unidentifiable accent in some far off country going 'Hey want some Amerikan Porn?' go through my head) and that you need a computer to facilitate the transfer, though it could be interesting to use as a massive USB hub.
Am I the only one who loves the incredibly retro industrial design? If I bought one I would rub off the nexcopy logo and put something more appropriately obscure.
"it's going to look great on the scrapheap of history in a decade or so!"
Yeah, electronic waste is sooo awesome! Hopefully there's lots of gold on those circuit boards for little kids in India and China to pick off so that they can buy some rice! Sweetness. I love barely useful mass produced electronic gadgets that have a utility lifespan of about 9 months.
Yeah, I love the design also. Too bad it is not something I need...
Well not yet at least. Maybe when our robot overlords come the only way to fight back will be uploading viruses into their programming by sneaking up behind them and shoving in a USB key preloaded with the virus. Then these things will be valuable weapons factories.
Just a thought.
"Sovietly" -- what a great word! I'm going to start using it in my daily speech.
The style is very nice and unfortunately the picture doesn't do it justice because the face plate is a sweeeet brushed metal.
"The awesomely, Sovietly square.." -- nice one :)
In mother Russia, stick copies you!
Samizdata. Heh, that's a great term.
"Sovietly square"? "Incredibly retro industrial design"?
What? Did none of you grow up with soldering irons in your geeky little hands?
This is just a standard, off-the-shelf "project box" or "project enclosure".
Round-cornered box made of folded, painted sheet metal or molded ABS plastic with a screwed-on sheet-aluminum cover. Used by generations of hobbyists to build one-off or limited-run electronics projects of all sorts.
You can get ones just like it today at Radio Shack or most any other electronic hobbyist parts supplier.
thes ethings are pickign up in popularity.. I found a site with a couple differnt brands, from 3 units to 118 unit capacity
