Fun Flickr pool: "Name that Film"

Picture 1-157

In this Flickr pool, you are invited to look at movie stills and try to be the first one to figure out what movies they're from. Most of them stumped me, even though I'm intrigued by the images. Link (Via Eye of the Goof)

God, I hate Flickr. Guys, it's 2008, not 1996: why are you showing me a page full of 32x32 pixel thumbnails?

Cool. So I either get a completely linear, one-dimensional view of one photo at a time, or an array of microscopic thumbnails.

I will never understand the appeal of Flickr, unless there's some huge clue that I'm really, seriously missing. I have to assume that's the case: what in the world is cool about Flickr?

Man On Pink Corner: Umm... it's cool if you like looking at photos... That's pretty much the whole deal.

On my page, I can choose from various sizes to set my preview images, but pools for some reason all seem to be in small form. I don't know if that's how they have to be, or if the people who make photo pools just like that, since not everybody who likes looking at photos has a great internet connection.

And considering that the average picture has options to view it in thumbnail, small, medium, large, or original size, I think that's a pretty good option compared to other photo sharing sites.

Plus, it's one of the best collections of quality (and non-quality) amateur photography on the net. Mostly because of its size, yes, but it still has an amazing amount of diversity in the types of pictures available there.

So I'm sorry if the two available options for one particular part of the site bother you, but the rest of the site does have some really interesting photography. Maybe you just need rest. Take a nap and check it out tomorrow.

Thanks for the link - there's also a lot of interesting discussion in the group. Here's the link to the main group page: http://www.flickr.com/groups/62585667@N00/
