I'm told that this is not a specifically mobster type of thing to do, but a wealth/prestige type of thing to do if you're Russian. It probably applies to Ukrainians as well.

I know some of you boingers live in LA... Go to the Hollywood Forever cemetery and you'll find a few of these. I personally wouldn't want my eternal monument become so quickly dated...I mean can you imagine how stupid you would feel if you died 10 years ago and the guy buried next to you has a like a sidekick LX on his tombstone and there you are with a Star-Tac flip phone and like a Geo Metro?
