Etsy seller Molecularmuse makes jewelry shaped like exciting molecules, including this necklace in the shape of my all-time favorite compound, capsaicin.

I have a dopamine version that I wear - I got it from a donation to erowid (www.erowid.org) - a great resource on psychoactive substances and their subjective effects.
I wear this as dopamine is the neurotransmitter I've struggled with and finally have (pretty much) in balance. (With an assist from fantastic health care professionals. :) )
I touch it when I feel down or anxious and remind myself that this too shall pass.
A compound is a molecule and a molecule is a compound. The combination of two or more elements forms a compound. If I remember correctly, even 02 is a compound. But anything organic is definitely more than one element, so either way, capsaicin is a molecule. And a compound.
I want one of these necklaces! Maybe with cut glass for the various elements.

All compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds. A compound is a molecule composed of at least two elements. Therefore O2 is not a compound but it is molecular oxygen.
I have been in love with her work since I saw her on Etsy last fall. I hope that if you are considering buying from her that you do. She is a true original.
Thank you so much for featuring my jewelry! I'm having trouble keeping up with the demand through my Etsy store. Feel free to visit my other website: http://www.madewithmolecules.com which has even more molecule-inspired goodies!
No kidding. I had a brain hernia trying to remember if a compound meant a molecule or not. Definitions like that stopped mattering once my chemistry teacher started to expect me to calculate the decay of a substance based on experimental data of certain elements. Of course we have to figure out the substance, too. Simple definitions don't mean much, I'm just a correction-nazi.

It's not a compound; it is, as the bit states: a molecule. It could also be called a "substance." Like your curry hot, eh?
mmmm, capsaicin. nom nom nom!

Dopamine is also released by love and novelty.

I think I'd like one in Ibuprofen please...
I stand corrected. Different elements combined can form a compound. My education did not fail me, my brain did.
