Nashville copyright bill protest this Weds
Chris sez, "This Wednesday we are going to protest at the State Capitol in Nashville against a Bill restricting the exchange of information at all institutions of higher learning. (Please help us spread the word to others!) Hearing scheduled for 8:30AM - Wed Feb 27th - Room LP 12."
Summary: Requires every public institution of higher learning to, by January 15 of each year: (a) develop and enforce a policy defining computer and network usage that clearly describes and prohibits the infringement of copyrighted works over the school's computer and network resources; (b) thoroughly analyze its computer network, including local area and internal networks to determine whether it is being used to transmit copyrighted information and either: (1) certify to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission that an analysis indicates that the network is not being used to transmit copyrighted works and that the institution has not received ten or more legally valid notices of infringement in the preceding year or (2) take affirmative steps to prevent the infringement of copyrighted works over the school's computer and network resources.Link (Thanks, Chris!)

If that's really how the bill is written, they have a big problem: every email is a copyrighted work, and the universities have to certify that the networks are not used to transmit copyrighted works!
Copyright isn't something that belongs to publishers, record labels, and stars.
Browsing the Intertubes is copyright infringement since caching to disk is stealing a copy of copyrighted digital media. I'm in Nashville so I might be able to come stand against this goofery.
Does anyone know what time they are planning on starting their demonstration? The provided link didn't have any logistical information.
We will be meeting to at the State Capitol in Nashville at 8AM
