Milk jug chandelier

Alexander Reh's indoor/outdoor "Milky Way Chandelier" is a pretty good use for old milk-jugs. This gives me an idea for a string of patio lanterns... Link (via Craft)

That is seriously ugly.

I have a glass pitcher made to look like a plastic milk jug. I told my mother is was Lalique and it instantly became acceptable to have at the table. No comment on the lighting.

If you are living in Hooterville, maybe.

I think a better use for that plastic would be to make many many many more times' worth of plastic milk -bags- instead. I've never understood the whole "disposable milk jug" thing; it's just so wasteful.

well, i think it's quite nice. : P

They look like teeth. You could reconfigure that to become the teeth in a big skull sculpture for halloween, which would be cool.

It's a nice idea, but I'd hate to walk into my kitchen and look at it everyday.

@#4 We used to have a local store here in town (multiple locations) that used to sell milk in bags. It was great. They had this open top pitcher you'd slide the bag into and then just cut off a corner. Was a lot cheaper than the regular jug milk and my single-parent mom used to buy it that way.

I don't know why they stopped doing it. Maybe cause you couldn't actually close the milk once you opened it unless you put it in a Tupperware-type pitcher.

Yeah, "giant, floating teeth" was my first impression, too, Nicheplayer.

The milk in bags thing is pretty common in Canada and all over the world really. Hard containers just make it easier for the manufacturer and distributor and the costs are passed along to the end consumer / milk drinker.

Now, back to the chandelier, check this one out http://tinyurl.com/2why5e they had it at an event in Toronto last week. I find it more pleasing to the eye than the jug thing - although, just like an above poster mentioned, no idea how easy i would get tired of the damn thing if i had it at home and had to see it daily.
