Ah, the "Plato's Stepchildren" episode. It was banned in the UK (or, rather, the BBC refused to show it) until the 1990s, I believe because of the extended torture sequences. Seems we Americans have more stomach for that sort of thing.

The other banned-in-Britain episodes were "The Empath" and "Whom Gods Destroy". The objectionable part of "Whom Gods Destroy" was, once again, torture. Probably it's the same in "The Empath".

"Plato's Stepchildren" has got to be one of the best Star Trek episodes of all time! first black on white interracial kiss (kirk and uhuru) spock crying and laughing uncontrollably, kirk acting like a pony while a midget rides him around a rooom... what more could you possibly ask for??
