Classic SF movies rendered as Russian folk-art woodcuts

Russian artist Andrey Kuznetsov has created a series of Russian folk-art woodcuts inspired by science fiction films like The Matrix, Star Wars and War of the Worlds. These are just...inspired. Link (via IO9)

I ran across these a couple of years ago; here's another page, with all the images at full size.

Some not-so-classic films in there, too—Firewall? Anaconda II?—and some that I don't recognize at all; of course, it doesn't help that I can't read Russian.

But yeah, cool project. I've been wondering about the backstory for a while now...

Man, oh man, oh man - when Cory comes back to work he comes in gangbusters!!

Either that or he can type faster with baby poo on his fingers.

Congrats again - and it's good to see the Doctorow Tsunami of Info back in action.

The Star Wars one is a kicker. How is the leap made to Chewbacca serving a pickle to Luke?

Vodka. Russian Vodka is the answer.

#3 yes =) I can't really translate the text (it's in archaic russian), but the text mentions that =)
Overall, the plot of the picture is someting like this: Neo dodged the bullet, but can't bend himself back to normal position, and asks the pharmacist Morpheus to give him a pill for that, but he smells/farts, so Morpheus denies him the pill... approximately like this =)

The spiderman says something like "My socks have never washed been, that's why to the ceiling I cling"
