That is beyond any shadow of a doubt the WORST video I have ever seen. I absolutely adore the New Pornographers (as I am, indeed, a self-admitted Indie Rock Whore), and normally I don't have any problem with videos that do not "match" the subjects of the songs they are made to illustrate. Oftimes the ironic divide between song and image can lead to some really entertaining and awesome videos.
But...uhhhh, this is just stupid. That video literally ruined one of my favorite NP songs.
Derek Pegritz, the video didn't literally ruin the song. They're two separate works of art. If it ruined the song for you, it did it inside your own head.
wonderful! i think i will let my hair grow so i can have a band in my do!
lovely animation too...
Great video! Thanks for linking :)
Completely awful.
Reminds me of those old pictures of mediums with muslin ectoplasm spewing out of their heads....

Oh god, it's a mutant Amy Winehouse!
Cool visuals... who did the video, and how did they do it?
Adobe After Effects? with... maybe, Trapcode plugins?
Greatest Canadian/American band in the whole wide world! The video for Challengers is quite lovely as well.

This just furthers my unfortunate suspicion that they will never make an album as good as "The Electric Version."
I like it.
Well, if you like this then you definitely need to look into some Hifana vids... start with "Wamono"

or "Fat Bros. Skateboards"

If you like those, look into DJ Qbert's "Wave Twisters" - a take off on the Beatles Yellow Submarine.
Loved it.

OMG ;-)
Nice. No doubt the artist that day was feeling myriad-minded.
I hate it when that happens to me...
